Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000/yr. (DOE)

Location: Remote

Status: Contractor, 1099

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Consultant to provide clinical documentation improvement consulting for our client, a regional health care system.

The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Consultant will perform a comprehensive assessment of the CDI program including the department's alignment with organization goals, program effectiveness, leadership, staffing, financial impact, technology, documentation, workflows, metrics, and provider engagement. Following the assessment, the consultant will direct the CDI department, align CDI efforts with operational goals, and implement CDI best practices.

Essential Functions

  • Complete a comprehensive CDI assessment and present results to senior leadership.
  • Align the Clinical Documentation Improvement department with organizational goals.
  • Optimize Clinical Documentation Improvement workflows to improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with providers, clinical leaders, clinical documentation specialists, coders, administration, and other stakeholders to implement CDI best practice solutions.
  • Oversee the CDI program by initiating, influencing, and directing operations.
  • Provide complete, accurate, and timely reporting of clinical documentation data metrics to leadership.
  • Develop staffing strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Identify and articulate obstacles/issues and implement solutions while working collaboratively with stakeholders.

Required Certifications

Candidates must have a valid RN or RHIA/RHIT and at least one of the following professional certifications:

  • CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist)
  • CDIP (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner)
  • CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as Director of CDI.
  • Active RN or an RHIA/RHIT, and at least one of the professional certifications mentioned above (CCDS, CDIP, CCS).
  • Prior consultant experience within a similar role.
  • Willing to travel to client sites periodically.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams).
  • Educated in HIPAA regulations; must maintain strict confidentiality of patient and client information.
  • Ability to organize and complete work promptly.
  • Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
