Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Staff Communication and Credentialing Specialist position is responsible for coordinating physician and staff communication utilizing diagnotes or other communication tools. Processes credentialing applications and reappointment applications for the Medical Staff and Allied Health Staff. Facilitates and assists with the OPPE and FPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation) reports and credentialing processes. Assists with HFAP survey preparation.

  • Communication skills to work closely and communicate with physicians to meet their needs and the needs of the department.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes application for appointment and reappointment for the Medical Staff and Allied Health staff.
  • Facilitates physician review of applications.
  • Maintains physician and allied health files and databases.
  • Enters and updates all databases.
  • Complete installation and usage of MD Staff credentialing software.
  • Meet all regulatory requirements regarding credentialing and privileging.
  • Responds to inquiry letters.
  • Responsible for coordinating physician and staff communication utilizing diagnotes or other communication tools.
  • Facilitates and assists with the OPPE and FPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation) reports, reappointments credentialing, and other credentialing processes including affiliation letters and maintaining credential files.
  • Assists with HFAP accreditation survey preparation.
  • Assists with data review and other duties as assigned.

  • Possesses organizational skills of self and work.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel with PowerPoint and Access being a plus.
  • Basic knowledge in the use of office equipment.
 
Position Requirements

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a credentialing professional is preferred.
  • NAMSS Certifications (CPCS and/or CPMSM) preferred.
  • Mandatory Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Patient Rights and Confidentiality, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
