Salary range: $70,000-$90,000 annually

What you would be Doing

The Comptroller is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in providing the highest level of financial support services and directs all financial activities and the overall financial and strategic objectives of the organization, while providing direction to the management in support of the greater organizational goal(s) and vision for Boundless Health. The Comptroller is responsible for the organization’s financial procedures, records, and statements for compliance with laws and regulations governing Federally Qualified Health Centers. 

  • Prepare monthly account analysis and journal entries for accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, A/R, fundraising and special events receivables, grants receivables, 340B receivables, depreciation, deferred revenue, unrestricted net assets, and others.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and bank/investment accounts on a monthly basis to ensure the accurate and timely recording of all transactions. In addition, assist with monthly billings and cash receipt activities.
  • Provide internal accounting assistance to Boundless Health managers and staff, in response to financial questions and concerns including reporting outlines and schedule requirements, compliance with reporting due dates/submissions, and reconciliation.
  • Serve as liaison between the organization, governing bodies, and external accountants to meet financial information needs and to ensure that proper information is maintained for accurate data retrieval and historical purposes.
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert the BHI Chief Executive Officer and/or Executive Director.
  • Prepare Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Medicare Cost Reports, the annual Uniform Data System (UDS) report, Annual Certifications, and other health center financial reports.
  • Prepare documentation for External Auditors to support auditing activities and the preparation of cost reports. Work collaboratively with associated organizations to roll up financials for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
    Prepare daily, monthly and annual reports, including batch reports, accounts receivable trial balance, invoice and deposit reports.
  • Maintain accounts receivable files, including proper backups for month-end close and the annual audit.
  • Prepare and maintain files of monthly cost-based reimbursement invoices, monthly financial assistance reports, and fund balance reports regularly.
  • Prepare and perform daily bank deposits with proper batch descriptions for reconciliation, maintain mobile readers, and train staff on the use of mobile readers.
  • Prepare Health Center budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the CEO, Executive Director, and other colleagues. Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position will have a hybrid work from home schedule that includes working from the Worthington campus on select days of the week. This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business is required
  • Minimum of five years of accounting, finance, or financial analytics experience
  • Strong understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and banking knowledge. Strong technical accounting skills and experience in audit, Medicaid cost accounting, budgeting.
  • Proven experience in client services and relationship building with internal and external constituencies (e.g., persons served, volunteers and vendors).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA
  • Two years of GAAP
  • Experience in a medical practice and/or FQHC environment, preferred.
  • Experience with NAVISION and Adaptive Planning databases and other financial accounting systems is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will supervise the AR Supervisor and Billing Specialist.
