Rate Range: $13.00 to $14.00 hour. Based on your education, experience, and credentials

Schedule: 7:30-9:30am and 2:30-4:30pm Monday- Friday

What You Will be Doing

The driver safely transports the people we serve to & from their homes to programs in Worthington/northwest Columbus. The driver ensures the vehicles is in good working order before & after use.

 
Position Requirements

Primary Job Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Report any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs to the Transportation Coordinator immediately.
  • Follow preplanned routes to ensure efficiency of travel.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
  • Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport individuals with autism, behavioral health conditions, or developmental disabilities between schools, work and/or other activities.
  • Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order following checklist before & after use.
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Follow safety rules as individuals are boarding and exiting vehicle.
  • Ensure everyone has exited the vehicle.
  • Pick up and drop off individuals at regularly scheduled locations, following strict time schedules.
  • Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
  • Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
  • Keep vehicle interiors clean for passengers.
  • Maintain knowledge of first-aid procedures.
  • Make minor repairs to vehicles.
  • Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, etc.
  • Complete training as required.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Experience transporting individuals or small groups.
  • Experience working with people with autism, behavioral health conditions, and/or developmental disabilities.

Required Licensure/Certification

  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; proof of auto insurance, insurable driving record (five points or fewer).
