Easterseals UCP (ESUCP) seeks a senior-level leader to oversee and manage the planning, development, and execution of the medical aspect of the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT). This role encompasses 24 hours of prescriber time and 16 hours of medical oversight, totaling 40 hours per week. The ACT Medical Director will be based in Statesville and will oversee the Doctors and PAs in the additional eight healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Typically sees the individuals at least monthly for the assessment and treatment of the individual’s symptoms and response to medication including side effects. The frequency will vary for each individual, with the vast majority seen within 4 to 6 weeks of the last appointment, with many of the contacts being in the community.
  • Collaborates with the team leader in sharing overall clinical responsibility for monitoring individuals
  • Provides treatment and clinical supervision to the team collaboratively with the Team Lead.
  • Actively collaborates with nurses to develop and implement medication administration policies
  • Procedures as well as oversee the medical care of beneficiaries that include regular screenings for medical conditions and assessment of wellness and health management.
  • Educates non-medical team members on psychiatric & non-psychiatric medications, their side effects, & health-related conditions; provides diagnostic and medication education to beneficiaries, with medication decisions based on shared-decision making.
  • Regularly participates in daily team meetings and treatment planning meetings; attends daily team meetings in proportion to the time allocated on the team.
  • Provides brief therapy (formal or informal).
  • Provides psychiatric back-up to the program after-hours and weekends. (Note: maybe on a rotating basis as long as other psychiatric care providers who share on-call have access to individual’s current status and medical records/current medications).
 
Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Clinical and Administrative supervision of other contracted and/or employee psychiatric prescribers to ensure adherence to appropriate standards of care and best practices.
  • The ACTT Psychiatrist participates in the following:
  • Assuring best practice standards for ACTT services are met within the team
  • The interviewing process of prospective nursing or other clinical staff on ACT Team
  • ACTT training and teachings to team members
  • The ACTT Psychiatrist must have a medical degree from a nationally accredited institution of higher learning, and be:
  • A graduate from an AGME accredited residency program in Psychiatry; and
  • Board-eligible or certified in psychiatry within NC and meet the requirements as specified in NCAC 27G .0104; or
  • Is ASAM- eligible or certified; and
  • Holds a current, unrestricted North Carolina medical license and is in good standing with the medical board; and
  • Holds a current, unrestricted DEA license and is in good standing with a federal agency; and
  • Has a current NPI number; and
  • Has individual liability insurance coverage for practice
