At Blue, we discover pathways to realize your possibilities. The Card Fraud Specialist processes debit card related disputes and fraud cases. Analyzes various reports to identify and limit potential fraudulent actions on member accounts. This position also focuses on:

  • Filing of insurance claims as necessary. Assists branch staff in completing required claim forms. Handles all fraud, lost/stolen reports made by members i.e., affidavits, questioning of members to gather information, issuing of provisional credits when justified.
  • Provides both internal and external members with information and direction regarding their account status, requests, payments and rights and obligations associated with the accounts. Counseling and interviewing members via telephone on proper claim procedures for debit card transactions
  • Monitors outstanding requests against timeline requirements for provisional credit or completion of the investigation.
  • Creates and/or posts accounting entries by journal voucher to member accounts and the Credit Union's General Ledger system.
  • Stay current and informed of changes in laws and regulations regarding fraud to ensure credit union practices are in compliance. Make recommendations for changes and improvements, as needed.
  • Reviews various fraud prevention reports to monitor unconventional member account behavior, contacting members when necessary, and changing member access status through the debit card network as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, in addition to all company policies.
 
Position Requirements

EXPERIENCE: Three years to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: A high school degree or equivalent

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In­ depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience.Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and or/advising others on matters of significance. Ability to work in a team environment with various personalities and backgrounds and be an effective member of the team with strong communication skills is a must.

OTHER SKILLS: Strong attention to detail. Able to use database, spreadsheet and word processing software suites to record and maintain records, with member contact as necessary via form correspondence . Able to learn and retain knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations concerning civil and criminal remedies for debit card activities . Able to learn and retain knowledge in depth for all debit card adjustment functions; to follow Co-Op network, Mastercard network and member privacy regulations and to limit potential liability for the organization.

Compensation $15.58 - $23.38  
Bondability Employment at Blue Federal Credit Union is contingent upon successful bondability.
