We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our team!

Position Overview:

As a member of the process engineering team, this position is responsible for ensuring that state of the art injection molding processes are designed, validated and released to production. In addition, assist the process development team as needed to develop new processes. The position will partner with multi-functional team members within Tool Development, Sustaining Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Purchasing.

  • Train, coach and supervise the Process Develop Engineers and Technicians
  • Develop robust injection molding processes utilizing scientific molding techniques, such as: gate freeze analysis, short shot analysis, etc.
  • Utilize and develop DOE to meet process goals
  • Maintain engineering files with the following documents: DOE reports, process sheets and water diagrams
  • Collaborate with quality group to validate injection molding processes utilizing sound statistical methods
  • Set work priorities for the team
  • Lead continuous improvement projects
  • Lead set-up reduction projects
  • Provide input into preventative maintenance practices.
  • Specify, justify and procure capital equipment
  • Perform failure investigations utilizing sound problem solving techniques and statistical methods as needed to identify root cause and enact corrective actions
  • Utilize root cause analysis i.e. 5 why, cause and effect diagram analysis, to resolve developmental issue
  • Author test protocols and execute validation protocols to meet ISO and FDA medical device regulation requirements
  • Verify documents are correctly filled out prior to set-up sign-off
  • Maintains and promotes a safe and clean working environment
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Valid identification and the ability to legally work in the United States
  • 4 year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 6 years of molding process in the plastic industry.
  • Basic computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, email software, preferably in Microsoft Suite.
  • Thorough knowledge of plastic resins, mold set-up and functions of an injection molding press is required; processing on injection molding machines; statistical process controls is preferred; solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • To write clearly and legibly reports and correspondence
  • Technical mathematical computations (example: add, subtract, and divide in all unit of measure, using whole numbers and decimals, and statistical inference)
  • Must be detail orientated.
  • Ability and willingness to problem solve.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and readily adapts to changes necessary to support the business.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals;
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees in the organization
  • Walking and stair climbing is required within the office/shop areas.
  • May be required to stoop, climb, lay down and other various position in order to perform work on equipment.
  • Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing of the arms, legs, wrists and fingers are physical requirements.
  • The position must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs unaided.

 
Position Requirements
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering Technology, Plastics Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering plus 5+ years related Process Engineering experience required.
  • Knowledge of polymer materials, plastic product design for manufacturing (DFM), injection molding process development, and tooling engineering required
  • Basic computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, email software, preferably in Microsoft Suite
  • Thorough knowledge of plastic resins, mold set-up and functions of an injection molding press is required; processing on injection molding machines; statistical process controls is preferred
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Must be detail orientated
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Maintain a positive attitude and readily adapts to changes necessary to support the business
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
