RCN Capital is seeking a BI Engineer Manager to join our Technology team! This is a great opportunity to play a key role in providing guidance and leadership to our BI team and work directly with company leadership to set standards and achieve the vision we have to remain an industry leader in both lending and technology.

The BI Engineer Manager will lead their team by establishing and executing a vision for the delivery of information and analytics platforms as well as solutions to RCN Capital's key stakeholders including, internal management and staff, external partners, and clients. This BI Engineer Manager will be ultimately responsible for helping transform the company into a business that is driven and competes on information and analytics. Additionally, the role will develop, test, and deploy Power BI reports and dashboards. This role requires experience in building and managing data integration, reporting, and visualization layers of a data warehouse.

Ideal candidates will possess strong experience in SQL Server and the SQL Server BI suite (SSRS/SSMS/SSIS) and the ability to implement related solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage and maintain the processes and procedures of the BI Department
  • Lead the migration from SSRS to Power BI
  • Developing visual reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Power BI desktop and the Power BI Service
  • Connecting to data sources, importing data and transforming data for Business Intelligence.
  • Lead conversations to elicit requirements from users.
  • Design and model datasets for reporting and visualization.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents complex TSQL data base queries.
  • Works with internal users to understand their requirements, explain issues, and prioritize work.
  • Develops SSIS packages to automate existing reporting and business processes.
  • Interfaces with internal teams and third-party vendors as needed to integrate existing data into the data warehouse.
  • Manage, develop and motivate a staff of 4 BI Engineers
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Skills:

  • Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and prioritize/re-prioritize work to meet aggressive deadlines. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Proficient at writing ad-hoc SQL Queries and Stored procedures.
  • Knowledge of VBA, and development in MS Access
  • Extensive expertise in data modeling, both logical and physical.
  • Extensive experience in multidimensional data modeling,
  • Experience and understanding of a wide variety of analytical processes (governance, measurement, etc.).
  • A solid understanding of key BI trends.
  • A solid understanding of leading-edge technologies and best practices
  • Experience with data science, statistical analysis, data mining and predictive algorithms
  • Extensive experience interacting with C-level executives and management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Knowledge of SQL Profiler a plus
  • Knowledge of MySQL is a plus
  • Experience in Mortgage Industry highly preferred. Experience working with Business Intelligence products preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in prototyping, designing, and requirement analysis preferred

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience supervising staff
  • At least 3 years of experience with development and administration of PowerBI environments
  • At least 5 years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with SSIS
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in data integration and validation.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience with data warehouse development

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Finance, or another related field, or equivalent related work experience
