Work for one of the only center-based comprehensive center-based autism programs in NC! Our cutting edge campus features a therapeutic clinic and a non-public school, serving preschool through high school. We recently expanded our campus to include a 26,000 square foot clinic building with additional therapy space, vocational training spaces, community skills labs (mock doctor, dentist, barber, shopping), and a mini-apartment for independent living skills practice!

Job Summary:

Develops individualized educational programs, trains and supervises staff, provides ongoing evaluation of ABC of NC services, performs administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct skills and functional behavior assessments in collaboration with staff psychologist.
  2. Develop and supervise implementation of client plans including, but not limited to: individualized education programs (IEPs), individualized family services plans (IFSPs), person-centered plans, behavior intervention plans, etc.
  3. Communicate with clients teams including family, direct care staff, psychologist, etc.
  4. Provide staff caregiver and community trainings.
  5. Construct/utilize appropriate curricula to teach skills across all domains (e.g. communication, play, self-help, academic).
  6. Supervise and observe teaching staff and provide ongoing written and verbal feedback to supervisees.
  7. Recognize the need for and seek supervision from supervisors regarding all aspects of the job.
  8. Lead client team meetings and home visits.
  9. Collect, compile, and graph data; make data based decisions regarding client programs.
  10. Provide written educational/clinical reports.
  11. Facilitate student transitions to other services when appropriate.
  12. Work constructively and cooperatively with professionals from other organizations (e.g. school district personnel, speech/language pathologists, case managers, etc.).
  13. Participate in continuing education activities within and outside of ABC of NC and stay abreast of current research in the field of autism treatment/education
  14. Attend and contribute to staff, lead teacher, enrollment, and other meetings.
  15. Manage staff morale, evaluate policies and procedures, and provide input for improvement to the leadership team.
  16. Market ABC of NC programs through community tours, client referrals, research presentations, conference participation, and vendor booths.
  17. Perform administrative duties (e.g. billing reports, etc.) as outlined by the Policies and Procedures Manual
  18. Assist senior program supervisors psychologist, and executive director as needed.

 
Position Requirements

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to observe and move with children in their natural environments (e.g. home, school and outside or in community).
  2. Must be able to demonstrate working and playing with children; must be able to sit on floor on ground and move easily in this capacity
  3. Must be able to lift small children
  4. Must be able to utilize safe non-violent crisis intervention techniques with students of all ages.
  5. Must be able to teach and assist with toileting skills.
  6. Must be able to perform the following gross motor activities:
    1. Climbing (e.g. upon playground equipment)
    2. Bending over (e.g. to assist child with writing)
    3. Squatting (e.g. to assist child putting on shoes)
    4. Running (e.g. running through a sprinkler with a child)
    5. Carrying (e.g. teaching materials, toys, art supplies)
  7. Must be able to perform the following fine motor activities:
    1. Manipulation of teaching materials
    2. Writing data
  8. Must be able to type on a computer keyboard.

 

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills):

  1. Master’s degree from a college or university in a related field.
  2. Board certification as a behavior analyst (BCBA).
  3. Superior teaching skills and clinical judgment with children across the autism spectrum.
  4. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. 
  5. Willingness to expand teaching and supervisory skills/knowledge.
  6. Computer skills including strong Microsoft Suite skills, including graphing
  7. Fun, upbeat, energetic and creative.
  8. Strong communication skills, including writing, oral presentation, and listening skills.
  9. Basic knowledge of relevant assessments, curricula, and research in autism.
  10. Pass a criminal background check.

Salary range $55-$74K annual salary, commensurate with education, experience, and credentials
