Seeking to hire a part-time Child Psychiatrist 

Job summary

  • Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain a therapeutic alliance with children, and their families
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of assigned patients, monitor the patient’s psychiatric status, exhibits knowledge of age specific criteria, ensuring that the full range of medical/behavioral considerations are considered in determining the diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic test as indicated by patient presentation and medications prescribed. Determines the need for medication and other specific treatments and developing treatments
  • Demonstrates the ability to initiate efforts to relieve family distress and improve family functioning
  • Demonstrate the ability to facilitate access to services and coordinating resource among mental health, general medical, and other service systems
  • Demonstrates ability to function within an interdisciplinary team in the assessment/ evaluation of patients, and to articulate verbally and in written documentation the integration of client history and assessment information. Works with school personnel to coordinate information as needed. Including but not limited to active participation in program and clinical team meetings, providing clinical support for team colleagues, and engaging in program-related performance improvement processes and activities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to increasing understanding of an adaptation to the psychosocial effects of identified disorders
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the formulation of psychosocial treatment plans, with relevant goals, behaviorally-measurable objectives that serve as indexes for evaluating treatment progress, an realistic time frames for achievement
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in written documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries in the clinical record, with all entries authenticated and time/dated
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in planning for, communicating, and documenting discharge/aftercare/transfer plans for patients completing treatment and/or accessing other services in the continuum
  • Provides clinical supervision to Agency teams as assigned. This supervision supports Agency ethics and culture
  • Demonstrates the ability to prescribe medications as indicated by signs, symptoms and diagnosis. Obtains informed consent for same. Patient and family education are provided regarding medications
  • Demonstrates Knowledge of Emergency Medical Treatment/First Aid
  • Demonstrates the ability to actively participate in psychiatric Peer Review, assess cases as assigned and provide feedback as indicated
 
Position Requirements

Requirements

  • Must have an academic degree from an accredited college or university and have completed a residency in psychiatry
  • Board Certified or eligible in psychiatry as defined by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Completed a training program approved by the American Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or Osteopathic approved residency training program in psychiatry
  • Documented knowledge of and at least two (2) year work experience with children, adolescent, and families.
  • Professional MD Licensure as required by program regulations & standards
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate
  • Valid State Controlled Substance Administration (CDS) Certificate
  • Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance
