Seeking to hire a full-time Psychiatric Advance Practice Nurse (APN) for children

Job summary

  • Performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of assigned patients, exhibits knowledge of age specific criteria, ensuring that the full range of medical and behavioral considerations are considered in determining the diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic test as indicated by patient presentation and medications prescribed
  • Functions within an interdisciplinary team in the assessment/evaluation of patients, and articulates verbally and in written documentation the integration of client history and assessment information
  • Works with school personnel to coordinate information, as needed
  • Formulates psychosocial treatment plans, with relevant goals, behaviorally-measurable objectives that serve as indexes for evaluating treatment progress, an realistic time frames for achievement
  • Documents assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries in the clinical record, with all entries authenticated and time/dated
  • Plans for, communicates, and documents discharge/aftercare/transfer plans for clients completing treatment and/or accessing other services in the continuum
  • Collaborates as a member of an interdisciplinary clinical team, including but not limited to active participation in program and clinical team meetings, providing clinical support for team colleagues, and engaging in program-related performance improvement processes and activities
  • Provides clinical supervision to Agency teams, as assigned. This supervision supports Agency ethics and culture
  • Prescribes medications as indicated by signs, symptoms and diagnosis. Obtains informed consent for same. Patient and family education are provided regarding medications
  • Knowledgeable of Emergency Medical Treatment/First Aid
  • Participates in psychiatric Peer Review, assess cases as assigned and provide feedback as indicated
 
Position Requirements

Requirements

  • Must possess a Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited education institution
  • Documented knowledge of at least two (2) years’ work experience with children and their families with mental illness
  • Current and valid NJ RN license
  • Current and valid NJ APN license
  • Current and valid Federal DEA certificate
  • Current and valid CDS certificate
  • Current and valid Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification or be eligible for FNP
  • Current and valid CPR certificate
  • Valid driver's license and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance
