Live music and community engagement are vital components of the Dance Group. It has toured with its own musicians, the MMDG Music Ensemble, since 1996, and regularly collaborates with orchestras and opera companies around the world. In addition to 17 full-time dancers, the organization currently employs 34 full-time staff and 75 part-time staff, teaching artists, and musicians.

In the heart of the Brooklyn Cultural District, the Mark Morris Dance Center, founded in 2001, is the hub of dance and music education in Brooklyn. The nine-studio building provides affordable classes in multiple genres for people of all ages, levels, with and without disabilities, accompanied by live music. The studios, a performance space, a Wellness Center, and ancillary spaces are all available to the community and to nonprofit organizations at subsidized rates. MMDG's Community Education Programs partner with public and private schools and community centers to provide customized classes. MMDG also offers customized dance workshops for persons with Parkinson's disease and their caregivers.

Description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Mark Morris Dance Group seeks a Data Entry Assistant responsible for managing data entry in our Raiser’s Edge database including gift processing, issuing tax receipts, maintaining departmental records, and integrating data from auxiliary databases. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to begin their career in the arts and gain an overview of fundraising with an emphasis in database operations. This position is an integral part of a 5-member Development team. Reporting to the Director of Development and supporting the Manager of Institutional Giving, Individual Giving Coordinator, and Membership Assistant, this full-time non-exempt position plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s fundraising efforts by serving as the primary coordinator of interdepartmental data communications to ensure high integrity data imports, exports, and record-keeping. The Data Entry Assistant joins the organization at a pivotal moment as we reimagine how we operate, further embody our core values, and welcome back our community.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Data Entry, Reporting, and Record Management:

  • Conducts daily gift entry and issues timely tax receipts using Raiser’s Edge/NXT
  • Oversees Omatic Cloud, Online Express, and Blackbaud Merchant Services
  • Reconciles donations with associated databases
  • Reports and queries on contributed income, prospects, and special campaigns
  • Processes registrations to events presented by MMDG and reports on related transactions
  • Coordinates with Finance to provide documentation for annual audit
  • Coordinates with Marketing to create event registration forms and provide updated constituent data as well as make updates to program funding credits
  • Maintains digital Development records
  • Maintains and updates user documentation
  • Maintains data health: making timely corrections, updating addresses, merging duplicate files, standardizing data, and adding research findings to constituent records

Administrative Support

  • Provides research, reporting, and administrative support to the Development team
  • Provides excellent customer service – responds to donor emails and calls within 24 hours
  • Mails/scans items as needed for donor/member stewardship
  • Records cultivation and stewardship actions in Raiser’s Edge/NXT
  • Supports cross departmental collaborations on fundraising and other organizational efforts
  • Supports MMDG’s public performance and private events by providing updated ticket buyer/registration lists and staffing them as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 
Position Requirements

You will be successful in this role if you:

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in accurate high-volume data entry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge, Omatic, Salesforce or other CRM systems preferred but not required
  • Compliance with MMDG COVID-19 Safety Plan and Vaccination Policy

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual Salary: $40,000
