AMP Research a Truck Hero Company is a leader in Powerstep Systems, the automatic, electric-powered running board systems is currently looking for an experienced first shift Production Manager at our Tustin, California Facility. Position Summary:

As part of the AMP Operations Team, the Assistant Production Manager is primarily accountable for efficiently planning, coordinating, organizing, and controlling the manufacturing assembly processes for all assigned products with an emphasis on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Lean principles in support of meeting customer requirements. This position drives and promotes 'First Time Quality' and 'On Time Delivery' culture

Essential / Major Elements of the Position:

Plan, lead, and execute production assembly activities from resource management and material planning, through production to ensure timely completion of manufacturing deliverables - meeting and exceeding all quality requirements.

  • Self-motivated hands-on metrics driven leader who is capable of planning, scheduling, resource planning and leading improvement projects aligned towards site initiatives.
  • Manages mechanical assembly operations; ensures safe, efficient, and effective use of resources.
  • Proactively drives 5S+1 practice to ensure the facility is a clean safe workplace for all employees and visitors.
  • Plans, assigns and provides clear direction to staff to achieve daily / weekly / monthly productivity targets.
  • Supports and drives cross training objectives.
  • Applies hourly / daily management by monitoring the production process and implement improvements as required.
  • Evaluate causes of manufacturing problems and assist in resolving such problems.
  • Coordinates with management team in supporting continuous improvement activities by standardization of processes and driving Lean initiatives such as workflow design, 5S, and standard work.
  • Guides, motivates, and disciplines staff in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Occasionally, the incumbent will be asked and expected to perform various, miscellaneous, and non-standard duties as required. Such duties are diversified in nature and may be changed from time to time to suit the needs of the company.
 
Position Requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Necessary to Successfully Perform this Position:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing practices encompassing mechanical assembly processes and manufacturing flow.
  • Strong production management and supervisory experience in diverse manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and electromechanical product specifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical parts / assemblies, mechanisms, wiring, connectors, etc.
  • Analytical problem solver who can make decisions and follow through on implementation.
  • Motivational and team building skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot solve problems independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Clear understanding of 5S and Lean Concepts / Practices.

Education and Experience:

  • 2-year degree in Operations and / or quantifiable experience equivalent in production operations
  • Strong knowledge in various PC applications such as: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Project, and MRP / ERP system
  • 10 years progressive and relevant management and supervision experience in a technical field
  • 10 years manufacturing experience
