RCM Team Lead

The RCM Team Lead is responsible for providing guidance, support, and supervision to the RCM Team. The Team Lead also provides support to the RCM manager for optimizing RCM processes, which includes driving standardization and automation, creating and implementing new processes and procedures, and executing special projects to improve effectiveness and improve efficiency. The RCM Team Lead is dual responsibility role with an individual account load and supervisory duties.

  • Train individuals on PM systems, vision and medical insurance processes, and RCM workflows to ensure protocols are followed.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues; and directly supervises a team of account reps, including managing time-off requests, timecards, bi-weekly 1:1s, workload, and auditing account rep accounts on a regular basis.
  • Assist RCM Account Representatives with provider issues and/or complaints. This includes email correspondence between the team lead and account or attending one on one meetings with account representative and office contact to assist and provide input.
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding medical and vision billing to RCM Account
  • Representatives and others throughout the organization in accounts receivable follow- up, billing, denials and/or underpayments.
  • Randomly audit account representatives to ensure established processes and procedures outlined in the RCM Account Representative Expectations are being followed and provide feedback to RCM Manager.
  • Assist in supervising the daily operations of the RCM team and overseas teams.
  • Attend weekly one on one overseas team meetings to identify trends, clarify RCM processes, and assist with follow up on unresolved issues/items.
  • Identify and work with management to resolve problems in billing or account processes and when appropriate, initiate changes to prevent future problems.
  • Maintain professional competency, according to department policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Maintain a repository of knowledge required to train new revenue cycle associates including manuals, tip sheets and other materials.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Keep manager informed of progress, achievements, and issues; assist staff with processes, information, and workload

Position Requirements

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abiliites:

  • Aptitude to quickly transition between detailed activities
  • Capability to set goals and map steps to successfully accomplish them
  • Working knowledge of revenue cycle management principles
  • Ability to make decisions based on industry regulations and company policy
  • Proficiency in relating ICD-10 diagnosis to HCPCS codes and products
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments to solve issues
  • Detail oriented, problem solver/analytical, flexible, and self-motivated.
  • Associate's degree or two years college with credit hours in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field or High school diploma/equivalent and five (5) years progressively responsible experience in medical insurance, medical billing or medical reimbursement.
  • CPC, CPOC or five (5) years direct optometry medical billing experience
