Summary/Objective
The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties and works closely with senior HR management. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: technical recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, investigations, performance management, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Handles technical recruiting responsibilities for a range of positions; conducts new employee orientation and onboarding duties, as needed.
  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and department SOPs.
  • Participates in enhancing employee engagement
  • Supports and administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary for assigned area.
  • Monitors career-pathing program; and works on projects and initiatives.
  • Handles employee relations counseling and exit interviewing.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Report creation as needed
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Serves as point of contact for employee questions
  • Assists in the accomplishment of company goals
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned by department supervisors

Licenses / Certifications

Preferred- Professional in Human Resources (PHR, SPHR) and/or SHRM Certified Professional or Senior Professional (SHRM-SPC, SHRM-SPC).

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent work experience is preferred. Two to five years of related Human Resources experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Human Resources best practices with emphasis on employee relations as well as related federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Adaptive, resilient, and able to negotiate, and influence behavior toward positive outcomes.
  • Strong time management, detail-orientation, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize.
  • Project management skills and experience managing multiple projects.
  • Communicates tactfully and effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of an organization and maintains effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment. Able to communicate to a wide audience and translate complex human resources issues and concepts into understandable terms.
  • Effective problem solving/decision making skills.
  • Proficient in the design and delivery of presentations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and demonstrated ability to learn other applications as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department and company.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and may be adjusted based on business need. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
