Description

We are looking to add a Quality Assurance Supervisor to our Madison, SD team!

In this role, you will plan and direct activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation by interpreting engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff. 
  • Devises sampling procedures, designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.  Assists in the calibration and data entry of devices. 
  • Identifies isolates, develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of defect product, and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility. 
  • Assists in the training and direction of workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability. 
  • Interacts with Customer Service, Engineering, Production Personnel, Customers or Vendors to coordinate and resolve quality-related problems. 
  • Provides computerized status report describing progress and concerns related to inspection activities, nonconforming items, and/or other items related to the quality of the process, material or product. 
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities as directed. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the latest codes and new developments in testing and examination methods of processes, materials, and products. 
  • Analyzes defective parts to determine reasons for dimensional variations such as faulty machining or assembly procedures, setup, tools, or fixtures.  Partner with production personnel to resolve defective issues. 
  • Selects products for test at specified stages in the production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimension, performance, mechanical, or chemical characteristics based off Inspection Plans and Piece Part Sample Standards to assure conformance with written standards and specifications. 
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures and communicates results to appropriate individuals to assure process control of molded and assembled parts. 
  • Occasionally work outside of regular schedule and overtime hours; with minimal advance notice at times. 
  • Directly supervises Quality Assurance employees, designs and/or implements ongoing training and career development of QA employees. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Directly supervises Quality Auditors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Refer employees to the Employee Assistance Program when appropriate.

 
Position Requirements

Education and/or Experience:   One or two year certificate from college or technical school AND 2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram from.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.   

Software Knowledge: IQ, Excel, Word, G-Mail Calibration Software
