What You Will be Doing 
We want people to join our team who share our values of love, excellence, respect, empowerment, and well-being. The Medical administrative assistants play an essential role on the I Am Boundless, Inc. residential nursing team. The Medical Administrative Assistant reports to the ICF Registered Nurse and will perform clerical work to support the residential nursing team. The Medical Administrative Assistant is responsible for keeping all resident’s medical files organized and current and handles administrative duties, such as answering phones and scheduling appointments.  

Primary Job Responsibilities 

  • Answer phones and screen callers to understand with whom they need to speak, forward calls, arrange meetings, manage mail/email/facsimiles and other correspondence and ensure correspondence is accurate, complete and properly handled.
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments for individuals and contacts nurse if medical discretion and decision making is necessary related to delaying, rescheduling, or cancelling appointments.
  • Communicate effectively with all staff.
  • Ability to identify problems, seek appropriate guidance, and report observations to nurse.
  • File medical records.
  • Notifies staff of needed medical appointments.
  • Works directly with nursing team.
  • Refills medications by calling in a prescription ordered by a physician identifying who they are and their role.
  • Orders medical supplies.
  • Attend individual’s medical appointments as needed.
  • Perform duties in compliance with HIPAA and all other legal standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have good attention to detail and the ability to function effectively under deadlines, changing priorities and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & Outlook.

Preferred Licensure/Certifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR - adult, child, and infant; Medical Administration. (training will be provided, if not already certified)

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

  • Two years' experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Medical assistant experience or administrative assistant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficient with E-charts, and Streamline.

Special Skills and Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate in English – including spoken (either face-to-face or over the phone) and in writing.
  • Must be detail oriented and have competent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and extremely organized.
