Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of the position is to provide general facilities and equipment maintenance. Performs skilled maintenance and repairs of conveyor systems, building and grounds, and other facility physical structures.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs periodic inspections by checking equipment condition and settings before, during and after production to assure equipment is maintained and properly adjusted
  • Analyzes, detects, and determines the nature of the problem and the extent of the repairs required. Troubleshoots and selects materials needed for the repairs. Prepares reporting documentation as required
  • Repairs and replaces broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment
  • Repairs and maintains the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs. On conveyors this includes repair and replacement of head and tail pulleys, belts, motors and gear boxes
  • Reassembles equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs
  • Examines parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear
  • Performs minor repairs and maintenance of building structural components to include plumbing, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Observes and tests the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts parts, equipment, and machinery
  • Analyzes test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems
  • Performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of painting, wall repair, vehicle servicing as assigned
  • General maintenance of structures and the façade of buildings
  • Light electrical duties such as changing light bulbs
  • Light plumbing duties such as changing faucets, cleaning pipes, tightening pipes
  • Participates in facility inspections as assigned: alarms and detectors: lighting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, vehicle, and other inspections that relate to buildings and grounds
  • Light HVAC such as changing filters, monitoring equipment
  • Testing emergency equipment and inspection of air handling and heating unit, changes filters and replaces belts for vents and AHU
  • Other cleaning/maintenance responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervisor

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs set-up and take-down for special events
  • Other assignments as deemed necessary for the care, welfare and safety of the physical plant and its extensions, out buildings, or associated buildings and structures

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience

  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 3 years' experience required
  • Trade school certificate(s) in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, maintenance preferred
  • Solid knowledge of general maintenance and repairs
  • Valid driver's license

Tools and Equipment Used

Performance of these tasks requires the frequent use of hand tools and some power equipment to shape and modify metal parts to include grinders, some welding, acetylene torch, some painting and the use of some petroleum products, and water-soluble cleaning solvents. Machine tools such as drill press, grinder, power saws, bolt threaders, pipe benders and threaders may also be used. Various hand and power tools. Measuring and testing devices such as calipers, levels, squares, scales, gages, micrometers, etc. Handling equipment such as crane, hoists, industrial trucks and vehicles. Welding and burning equipment, pumps, etc.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions (written and verbal) with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work independently
  • Able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Must be able to work around firearms

Physical Demands

  • Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Sounds, noise levels are distracting or uncomfortable.
