Job Description

The Warrior Resilience & Fitness Support System Coordinator will help the State Family Program office in develop, promote, and implement suicide prevention initiatives focused on family members who are best positioned to identify risk factors and warning signs of suicide. The Warrior Resilience & Fitness Support System Coordinator will promote evidence based suicide prevention trainings, safe storage of lethal means, and overall wellness resources.

 
Position Requirements

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify existing internal and external mental health programs resources that support systems participate in a round the state, during the year.
  • Develop a master calendar of community meetings and mental health trainings for which military service members’ support systems (i.e., family members) are eligible.
  • Identify locations where military supports life and local civilian and military mental health program resources that are available to them.
  • Provide monthly activity reports to State Family Program Director (SFPD) or Ohio National Guard Youth Program (ONGYP) State Youth Coordinator or Ohio Military Kids (OMK) Project Director.
  • Provide monthly activity reports by the 3rd of each month to Family Readiness Director and Resilience, Risk Reduction and Suicide Prevention (R3SP) Coordinator.
  • Provide monthly activity reports to SFRSSs for upcoming events that can be marketed to the units.
  • Ensure Family Readiness is aware of ongoing SSW marketed programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain current and accurate program information for family resource availability at least 95% of the time
  • Develop local support network groups.
  • Meet with local community partner organizations throughout the state to provide information on mental health trainings and how they can become involved.
  • Meet and coordinate with statewide prevention programs such as Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation, Star Behavioral Health, Ohio National Guard Behavior and Mental Health, and other state wide organizations that provide mental health trainings and outreach to military and civilians.
  • Coordinate with the Family Readiness Team in the development and expansion of social media outreach and marketing.
  • Maintain social media sites. Posting approved information within the established suspense.
  • Ensure inquires made through social media are given response within 2 business days of request.
  • Expand and continue current and new Support Systems Wellness Program.
  • Provide aid to ONG State Family Readiness and R3SP in suicide prevention programing, though working with support systems (i.e., family members).
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute events that train support systems (i.e., family members) on mental health and suicide prevention.
  • Provide programming aid to military families and youth as needed for Yellow Ribbon Events (e.g., organize; facilitate trainings).
  • Manage participant database for continued tracking, and marketing or community training and family networks.
  • Create and maintain internal and external partnerships such as Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation, and Ohio Cares, other local prevention coalitions.
  • Support ONGYP and OMK by providing support to the age appropriate activates provided.
  • Provide age appropriate training and programing for military families, children, and volunteers that participate in ONGYP and OMK programs.
  • Help facilitate and train on mental health and suicide prevention tactics, with volunteers who support military children and families in ONGYP and OMK.
  • Provide at least one training for youth volunteers on mental health and prevention a year.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a government background investigation including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and favorable completion of FBI fingerprint history check.
  • Experience with the military is required. Experience can be gained through prior military service, as a member of a military family, or through service as a military family volunteer.
  • Army/Air Guard experience relevant to the job description and roles/responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Ability to develop and present briefings both internally and externally
  • Working knowledge of the Internet, associated software, and ability to navigate so as to research issues raised through the provision of support to military members and their families.
  • Working knowledge of common office equipment, consisting of facsimile machines (FAX), photocopiers, and more advanced telephone features commonly available such as forwarding and conference calls.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or demonstrated practical experience in program/project coordination applications, with 3 years of experience in a discipline centered on education, human development, administration, or social science.
  • Knowledge of the principles, policies, program goals and methodology of Child and Youth Services to include Army and Army Reserve Family Programs as necessary and knowledge to administer such programs.

This position is contingent upon award of a contract.
