This exciting opportunity reports to Alex Makowski, PhD, Sr. Product Development Manager. The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours per week over the summer. This is a paid internship located at our corporate headquarters in Palo Alto, CA. Relocation and housing are not provided.
This internship with Sciton requires proof of full vaccination. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply.

In this role, you will:
- Test new prototype devices
- Conduct laboratory experiments
- Record and analyze real data
- Work with high power lasers and cutting-edge optical devices
Essential requirements for the role:
- A strong love of learning and science!
- Ability to be on-site to do lab work in Palo Alto
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar (Word processing, spreadsheets, slides)
- Take good notes and follow safety procedures
- A keen power of observation
- Experience with the following is not expected but would be preferred:
- Writing basic scripts (Mathematica, Python, MATLAB or other)
- Optics, photonics, or electronics in a lab setting
- Data collection and analysis, especially basic statistics
- Knowledge of Applied Physics and/ or Engineering
- Basic Machining, 3D printing, CAD
