The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst assists in creating, executing, and documenting the tests necessary to ensure software applications meet requirements (functional and non-functional) and that defects are identified and logged. The work of the Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is performed under the guidance of the Senior Quality (QA) Analyst and the Quality Assurance Manager. This role ensures that quality standards are met and adhered to by using their knowledge of quality assurance methodology, tools and techniques. The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst will resolve, document and report to management all identified quality problems.


Essential functions include:

  • Develops detailed test strategies and plans for applications based on technical and business specifications in accordance with company standards
  • Tests and analyze components of the system based on project requirements for design
  • Retests fixes to ensure defects have been resolved
  • Documents and communicates test results
  • Creates and conducts quality-control tests and analyses to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standard, acceptance metrics and end-user requirements
  • Participates in evaluation process for tools and techniques that result in overall quality improvements
  • Assists in recommendation of processes to enhance the effectiveness of quality assurance and testing strategies
  • Assists Business Owner in identifying requirements detail working toward finding defects in the requirements gathering phase
  • Assists Engineers in resolution of programming problems
  • Works with the Quality Assurance team in defining, updating and communicating quality policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Must be able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment and within tight deadlines
  • Conducts quality assurance reviews

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree in a computer field or a combination of relevant education and equivalent experience
  • 2+ years related work experience with commercial off-the-shelf software development
  • 3+ years related work experience in testing or quality assurance
  • Experience on an Agile team producing web-based, n-tier applications
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles
  • Demonstrated understanding of relational databases
  • Strong knowledge of computers and/or networks
  • Ability to handle multiple projects
  • Applies a working knowledge of Project Management Concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or course work emphasis in programming and/or system design
  • 4 + years related work experience with commercial off-the-shelf software development
  • 4 + years related work experience with Microsoft *.NET, DB2, SQL Server and AIX
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and EHR software applications
  • Experience with test automation and performance testing tools
  • Experience with working with off-shore testing teams

Position Requirements

Essential Functions: In addition to working as prescribed in our Performance Factors specific responsibilities of this role include:

  • Complex tasks of our products and processes.
  • Some working knowledge of Agile practices, preferred
  • Ability to clearly identify defects.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and document issues within JIRA or other tracking tools.
  • Ability to learn company and industry knowledge to assist with creating test cases and regression testing.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles
  • Demonstrated understanding of relational databases
  • Ability to independently execute test cases with minimal questions and follow up.
  • Working knowledge of QA work flow.
  • Working knowledge of troubleshooting identified defects to assist with testing.
  • Understanding of build and installers processes and in-depth testing around those processes as appropriate to platform
  • Ability to work with developers to explain defects and recommend possible solutions to BA's.
  • Working knowledge across the product (e.g. web and legacy product development)
  • Ability to create more complex test cases aligned with product design and functionality given the requirements.
  • Base knowledge and understanding of SQL and data extraction tools as appropriate to platform
  • Completes work in a timely manner with little supervision.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently setup and breakdown test environments as appropriate to platform
  • Ability to understand and execute workflow testing scenarios covering both negative/positive outcomes.
