Find your mission at the YWCA.   JOB SUMMARY: The certified Group Fitness Instructor will provide professional & motivating indoor group classes designed for a diverse population and varying fitness levels, delivered in a safe and effective manner and in compliance with the YWCA of Minneapolis standards and mission.   Position Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Class Instruction: Must hold current, renewable Group Fitness Certification (eg AFAA, ACE, NETA). Must be CPR certified or complete certification within 3 months of hire. Prefer minimum 2 consistent years’ experience of class instruction. Provide quality instruction by actively promoting and demonstrating safe exercise in accordance with established exercise guidelines and practices using music and teaching style that is motivational and mission appropriate. Instructors have the freedom to design and teach classes that best fit their style and technique. Communication and Admin Responsibilities Group Fitness Instructor reports directly to Group Fitness Site Coordinator Maintain timely and accurate recordkeeping. Actively promote YWCA programs and events to participants. Uphold YWCA of Minneapolis policies, protocols and procedures. Attend required departmental staff meetings and trainings. Maintain all required CPR and Blood Borne Pathogens certifications. Consistently use GroupExPro, the online program management tool. Critical relationships will include all Group Fitness Site Coordinators, Group Fitness Instructors, Building Supervisor and General Manager. The YWCA of Minneapolis has three sites: Downtown, Midtown and Uptown. All are conveniently located on bus lines and close to the Greenway for cycle commuting. Our Midtown location is steps from the light rail station. The Midtown and Uptown locations have free parking for staff.
