APPRENTICE TECHNICIAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

About Us:   

Minnesota Truck and Trailer provides quality service to our customers for their trucking needs. Whether it be preventative maintenance or body work repair, we help get our customers back on the road. Our facility features 10 full-service bays and an additional 9 body shop bays, as well as a 65-foot paint booth for extra-large projects. Our technicians and helpful service staff’s main goal is to provide excellent customer service – and our valued employees are how we achieve that!  

This Role Is Responsible For

  • Learning to diagnose, adjust, repair, and troubleshoot malfunctions using diagnostic tools & gauges on various types of truck equipment while using critical thinking/problem solving. 
  • Learning to deliver productive results and demonstrate accountability while working with a high degree of independence. 
  • Learning to utilize computer and other devices to write an itemized summary of each repair performed and parts used. 
  • Learning to accurately complete DOT and other forms in a timely fashion.  
  • Learning how to properly clock on and off applicable repair orders and repair segments. 
  • Learning to maintain neat and orderly work area and properly handle company tools. 
  • Learning to notify the Service Advisor if additional repair work is necessary.  
  • Learn to be customer focused while actively listening to customer concerns and providing solutions. 
  • Learn to build trust, collaborate, and maintain cooperative relationships. 
  • Learn to participate in training to stay relevant with new technology.  
  • Learn to adhere to and promote company safety policy.  
  • Learn to perform other duties assigned by a manager/supervisor; always being adaptable. 
  • Understanding this is a paid apprentice technician position, working part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer (flexible, location based). 
  • Agreeing to (at least) 2 years, full-time employment with our company after graduating from an approved diesel technical school. 
  • Understanding tuition reimbursement of $2,000 paid upon completion of each semester with a 4.0 GPA, $1,500 for a 3.5 GPA, or $1,250 for a 3.0 GPA; max of two semesters, paid annually. 
  • Receiving on-the-job training from certified technicians or instructors. 
  • Using company-provided apprentice toolbox until own tools are purchased. 
 
Position Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:  

REQUIRED:  

  • CDL-A/CDL-Class 1 (after graduating from diesel tech program).
  • Valid driver’s license. 
  • Willingness to submit to and pass background check and drug screening test. 
  • Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities (upon diesel tech school graduation). 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Excellent customer service, verbal, written, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds. 
  • A positive team attitude is a must!

*For consideration into the Apprentice Technician Program, please complete full application for employment and proof of enrollment at a Diesel Tech School. Applicants must be applying for admittance into program prior to the beginning of the semester to qualify for reimbursement (exceptions can be made, please ask). Upon acceptance into the Apprentice Technician Program, you will be required to sign an Apprentice Technician Agreement. *Based on our sole discretion, the companies will review each participant in the program each semester. Upon graduation an opportunity of full-time employment may be extended, based on regular performance reviews upon completion of the program. The apprentice bonus is subject to reimbursements or repayment if the participant does not work for a minimum of two years after completion of the program, assuming there is an offer of employment. The companies reserve the right to terminate this program at any time, and without any contnuing obligation to participants of the program. However, should the companies terminate the program, there will be no repayment obligation. Upon accpetance into this program, you will be required to sign an Apprentice Technician Agreement.
