Admissions Advisor - Temporary 


As one of the first points of contact for prospective medical students, the Admissions Advisor helps in guiding prospective medical school applicants through the admissions process in an efficient, professional and supportive manner using the best practices in medical school admissions. The Admissions Advisor receives and evaluates application materials, provides recommendations for applicant interview invitations, coordinates communications and interactions between the college and applicants. The Admissions Advisor must possess exceptional communication skills, be highly organized and responsive, and have enthusiasm for an educational environment. The Admissions Advisor will report directly to the Assistant Director of Admissions. This is a temporary position not to exceed June 30, 2022.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate incoming applications to the Doctor of Osteopathy program at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Track and conduct follow-up efforts to ensure all required application materials are received
  • Assist in coordinating interview days for prospective pre-med students and faculty
  • Conduct pre-med advising appointments and tours
  • Maintain current knowledge of BCOM's academic, spiritual, recreational, social, extra-curricular, residential options and financial aid programs, and communicate this information to prospective students
  • Maintain a high volume of communication via email, traditional mail, social media and phone calls with prospective applicants of the college in order to establish a productive rapport between the applicant and BCOM
  • Attend and participate in Enrollment Services staff meetings
  • Assist with Offer Paid incoming student retention efforts
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Admissions application processes, software and database
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Services departments to validate admission/enrollment materials needed for prospective and current students
  • Assist Enrollment Services departments to coordinate, plan, and promote special admission on-campus events; participates as an Admissions representative during these events
  • Participate on appropriate BCOM committees
  • Encourage a healthy and productive relationship between Enrollment Services and other BCOM offices
  • Additional tasks and/or duties, as assigned
Position Requirements

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with AMP or similar Admissions management systems preferred
  • Experience working with students in an admissions-related environment preferred
  • Experience with pre-health professions pathways and criteria preferred
  • Experience/ability in giving presentations to large groups preferred
