The Director of Lending is responsible for organizing, planning and directing the credit union's Consumer, Mortgage, and Small Business Underwriting/Lending function, maximizing service, efficiency, profits and growth. This includes oversight of all consumer, mortgage and small business underwriting, management of indirect lending, SBA PPP servicing and will ensure that the department is well trained, staffed and organized for maximum effectiveness. The Director establishes and implements departmental lending policies, operational procedures, and quality control consistent with regulatory and overall credit union management policies. The Director also reviews systems, products, processes, audits and makes the necessary changes to stay in compliance, manage risk and improve the member experience. This position also focuses on:

  • Leads and manages the Consumer Lending and Mortgage/small Business underwriting Departments, including activities related to the development, underwriting, and maintenance of the credit union's Retail, Indirect, Direct, small Business, PPP and LSI loans. Develops and maintains a budget, relative to the Department and credit union.
  • Directs the Consumer Lending and Mortgage/small Business underwriting to align with the credit union strategic plans. Develops strategies and tactics to attain mortgage loan growth and profitability goals that will enhance and compliment the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.
  • Exercises usual authority of a Director concerning leadership development, staffing, performance appraisals, training and coaching, maintaining/improving morale, quality control, data analysis, supervisory feedback, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations. Achieves desired sales and service level objectives to the membership and other staff as measured by internal and external surveys. Develops action plans to improve under-performing areas.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal laws and regulations in order to develop/maintain policies and procedures for the Consumer Lending and Mortgage/small business underwriting.

  • Evaluates and manages the negotiation, establishment and monitoring of business relationships with various vendors who provide services to the credit union through the Consumer department.

  • Assists Senior Management with relative reporting, tracking, audits and examinations. Develops, maintains and recommends pricing strategies for all Consumer Loan products.

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

 
Position Requirements

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years financial institution experience in operations, member servicing and lending.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in Credit Union operations.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.

OTHER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong knowledge of PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Keystone core processing and other relative lending software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand . The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance and stoop , kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus .

WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors with minimal noise .

Compensation $64,091 - $96,136  
Bondability Employment at Blue Federal Credit Union is contingent upon successful bondability.
