About the Organization DRNY, the Protection and Advocacy System and the Client Assistance Program for New York State is seeking an individual with a passion for achieving justice for individuals with disabilities. With a focus on civil rights and disability justice, DRNY actively works to break down the systemic oppression of all people with disabilities. DRNY recognizes the intersecting legacies and effect of ableism, white supremacy, colonial capitalism, and gendered oppression on people with disabilities. The Office Manager is an administrative support professional who assists DRNY staff and the Director with a wide range of administrative tasks. The Office Manager will support DRNY’s operations so that staff are able to stay on task and to ensure the smooth functioning of the office.

The Office Manager will:

  • Direct callers from a multi-line telephone system, with incoming calls from people with disabilities, family members, friends, or other concerned parties;
  • Provide administrative and organizational support to DRNY staff;
  • Direct visitors to DRNY offices;
  • Communicate with suppliers, vendors, building management, and others on behalf of the office as assigned by the supervisor;
  • Sort, assess, and prioritize incoming mail for time-sensitivity and internal delivery;
  • Assist with drafting correspondence;
  • Legal and litigation support;
  • Act as a resource in the onboarding and offboarding of staff and in collaboration with management;
  • Act as on-site support on use of equipment and software;
  • Support scheduling, planning, and execution of office meetings;
  • Supporting onboarding and training of temporary employees;
  • Use multi-function office equipment to perform copy, print, scan and fax tasks ranging from single documents to multi-part assignments;
  • Respond to office needs, including refilling paper and toner in printers and tracking supply needs;
  • Organize, file, and transport client and case electronic and paper files;
  • Work both independently and with small teams to complete projects with appropriate deadlines;
  • Maintain accurate time records and client records and following up with other staff on submitting records necessary for DRNY to meet its programmatic and fiscal responsibilities;
  • Perform additional tasks consistent with skills, abilities and general responsibilities as required to support DRNY and as needed or directed by supervisor ;
  • Occasional travel throughout New York State and outside of New York State as necessary to perform assigned job tasks;


  • Excellent communications skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Past experience working as an office manager in a law office or as a paralegal strongly preferred;
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor and communicate tactfully even under pressure;
  • Professional phone etiquette;
  • Associates degree or 3+ years of relevant experience;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Database experience preferred;
  • Bilingual language skills preferred but not required;
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently and collaboratively;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Will be required to show evidence of a COVID vaccination;
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals;
  • Experience working with or for people with disabilities preferred;

Working Conditions

The Office Manager usually performs work in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take the Office Manager to non-standard workplaces. Remote working will be part of working conditions. An Office Manager may have some limited travel within and outside the state as necessary.

Schedule: 9am - 5pm
