We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Lead Health Records Technician to ensure the proper processing of health records and adherence to workflow systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the roles, responsibilities and requirements of the Health Records Technician position, the Lead will also:

  1. Monitors day-to-day work flow performance and makes recommendations and adjustments to support the department work flow.
  2. Identify and communicate changes to workflows, procedures and systems to staff.
  3. Maintain communication with Clinic Managers and provide training to clinic staff as needed.
  4. In conjunction with Department Manager, meet with staff to provide updates.
  5. Provide technical assistance to medical records staff on questions involving forms, procedure, and record retention.
  6. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in accordance with Salud’s Sanction policy and HIPPA privacy standards.
  7. Ensure the timely processing of all subpoenas in accordance with California State Law and the Department of Social Services records request and invoices.
  8. Maintain up-to-date Excel file for record tracking of disclosures,
  9. Perform all duties with high degree of accuracy.
  10. Adhere to the SPLG Mission, Vision, and Values, Standards of Conduct and HIPPA principles.
  11. Communicate effectively by using welcoming words, proper tone of voice, and appropriate body language in all interactions. Listen skillfully and display a willingness and ability to acknowledge patient and co-workers needs, expectations and values through the use of reflective listening and empathy conveyance. Respond to co-worker and patient needs in ways that are helpful and beyond expectation.
  12. Consistently adheres to and/or exceed SPLG’s communication guidelines and expectations with patients, peers, and supervisors.
  13. Greet every patient with a verbal greeting.
  14. Collaboratively work with patients through SPLG’s communication guidelines to positively affect their health outcomes.
  15. Maintain effective working relationship with a diverse employee, patient and business population.
  16. Other duties assigned.
 
Position Requirements

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Knowledge of: the functional operation of a health records department, medical terminology, basic and computerized health records procedures, standard office equipment, and principle of effective training.

Ability to: process all Health Records functions with a high degree of accuracy; prepare reports; follow policies and procedures; organize work efficiently, using sound independent judgment; think independently and analytically; use a variety of standard office and computer equipment; communicate effectively and respectfully with other staff members and patients from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating a knowledge of and sensitivity to their needs; develop and maintain effective working relationships with Salud Para La Gente staff, patients, health insurance agents, government community agency representatives, and the public.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three to Five years of experience working in Health Records ambulatory care settings
  • School-knowledge of Medical Terminology required
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel and Outlook) and electronic health records.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required
  • Self –Starter and able to function with little or no supervision
  • Excellent customer service skills (for both internal and external customers) is required
  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License or must be able to provide suitable transportation. Transportation between sites may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving and/or lifting up to 25 pounds.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary Range: $22 to $26.74 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, Voluntary Life Insurance, Voluntary Long Term Disability, 401K with match, PTO and Holiday Pay.
