CADD Technician Intern

Position CADD Technician II - Civil  

Alliant is looking for a CADD Technician Intern so come and join our team! A paid internship will provide the opportunity to participate as a valuable member of our engineering teams by working directly with the engineering staff. Candidates must have a willingness to perform general civil engineering tasks supporting various project engineers. Candidates have the opportunity to learn firsthand from professionals within the Transportation department.

Internship beings September 2021 and will conclude in December


  • Provides non-technical, routine and basic support for assigned projects, using a computer as an aid to drafting at the entry-level.
  • Completes detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specification, and written and verbal instructions using computer-aided drafting programs;
  • Reviews all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to Project Engineer or Project Manager for review;
  • Revises or changes drawings, traces and/or copies existing drawings and completes simple calculations with specific instructions;
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job;
  • Maintains neat and orderly work area, which allows access to project information to other team members


Proficiencies / Technical Responsibilities:

  • Requires some knowledge and training in AutoCAD. Minimal knowledge with Land Desktop desirable, but not necessary.
  • Requires some knowledge and training in MicroStation. Minimal knowledge with GEOPAK desirable, but not necessary.
  • Must be proficient in Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft Office etc.)

  • Possession of or In pursuit of a technical degree related to the field of Civil Engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
