Description

We are seeking an individual to subcontract with our agency to complete Kinship Home Assessments for children that are in the custody of the Department of Family and Protective Services. The candidate should possess a BA or BS (or higher) college degree preferably in the Social Sciences (Social Work, Sociology or Psychology) but will consider candidates that have a college degree and strong writing skills.

SERVICE PROVIDERS Expectations

  1. After completing orientation training, be thoroughly familiar with contract requirements: DFPS and Contractor forms, templates, procedures and guidelines.
  2. Prepare for Assessments: Review DFPS referral packet, discuss areas of focus with Child Placing Manager (CPM).
  3. Complete Assignments- Kinship Assessments
  4. Schedule and conduct interviews with the family (all family members).
  5. Write comprehensive assessments in approved format and writing style.
  6. Submit assessment drafts to CPM for review by due date. Correct, edit and resubmit within 24 hours of receiving CPM feedback.
  7. Maintain ongoing communication with CPM; progress on interviews, concerns, status of assessments.
  8. Submit accurate invoices for completed assessments on a timely basis. (Provider paidper assessment.)
 
Position Requirements

Education & Experience Qualifications

Candidates must adhere to one of the following combinations of education and experience:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work or other human services field AND

1 Year Full-Time Experience* in conducting assessments, service planning or case management duties in a (A)Residential child-care operation; or (B)DFPS conservatorship caseworker or FAD development*Experience may include:•Maximum of 350 hours of formal and supervised field placement or practicum in child-placing activities;

OR

1-year working under the direct supervision of CPM that includes 10 documented, monthly, face- to-face, individual, case-related conferences over the year and must continue until the Service Provider’s previous experience and directly supervised experience totals one year.

2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; AND

2 Years Full-Time Experience* in conducting assessments, service planning or case management duties in a (A)Residential child-care operation; or (B)DFPS conservatorship caseworker or FAD development

*Experience may include:

Maximum of 350 hours of formal and supervised field placement or practicum in child-placing activities;

OR

2-years working under the direct supervision of CPM that includes 10 documented, monthly, face-to- face, individual, case-related conferences over each year and must continue until the Service Provider’s previous experience and directly supervised experience totals two years.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.

LICENSES: LMSW, LCSW, LBSW, or similar as per requirements above. Driver’s License with clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

TRAVEL: Frequent travel is required. Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.

OTHER: Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.

 

EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means. Ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of individuals. Ability to present a professional and positive demeanor to contractors, staff, funders, officials and the general public.

COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to represent the agency and respond professionally in all situations.

COMPUTER: Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Access and Publisher a plus. Strong internet research skills. 45 WPM, 95% accuracy. Familiarity with cloud/internet based software a plus.

DECISION MAKING: Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of program decisions and resolve problems. Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work related problems. Ability to think analytically and conceptually on a long term basis.

FINANCIAL: Ability to operate within budget parameters.

MANAGEMENT: Knowledge of business practices, resource allocation and leadership. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Works with a bias towards action. Ability to evaluate effectiveness of service delivery.

PLANNING: Ability to think long term; to make development plans up to a year or more in advance. Ability to seek out and develop relationships that can lead to long term results.

SUPERVISION: Ability to train, evaluate and guide Independent Contractors. Ability to delegate and ensure follow through. Ability to provide feedback in a respectful and constructive manner.

TECHNICAL: Knowledge of contract administration. Knowledge of foster care and adoption, child abuse issues, behavioral and mental health services.
