Description

This position plays a dual role coordinating two children focused programs within Washington DC. The Family Market Program is a monthly farmers market-style distribution of healthy groceries, including fresh produce, and complementary nutrition education to children and their families at risk of hunger at school sites in Washington, D.C. The Joyful Food Market Program is a partnership with Martha’s Table to provide fresh produce and groceries to schools in Wards 7 and 8 in Washington, D.C. through a monthly distribution.

The Youth Nutrition Coordinator (YNC) manages a portfolio of D.C. Family Market school sites to ensure quality and consistency is maintained across the program. This position is responsible for placing food orders, collaborating with CAFB colleagues to ensure program excellence, and communicating effectively with the Family Market school site coordinators to ensure a positive experience for all clients. The YNC is also the point of contact for Martha’s Table (MT) and works in partnership with MT staff to ensure accurate food orders and data tracking for monthly Joyful Food Markets.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Administration?(80%)

  • Develop monthly menu and place orders within program specifications for Family Markets and Joyful Food Markets; 
  • Ensure monthly distribution calendar is accurate and communicate delivery details with the transportation team for all orders; 
  • Provide excellent customer service to school site coordinators and partners;   
  • Maintain regular communication with Martha’s Table staff to ensure seamless program implementation; 
  • Monitor regular site distributions and provide guidance to site coordinators; 
  • Address site coordinator concerns in a productive and respectful way; 
  • Present Family Market site leader trainings on an annual and as-needed basis; 
  • Complete all invoices and work collaboratively with Finance Department to close out monthly billing; 
  • Facilitate the improvement of the program operational model with the Manager of Direct Distributions; 

Monitoring and Compliance (20%) 

  • Maintain and update all records and pertaining to the Family Market and Joyful Food Market programs; 
  • Manage monthly reporting and client participation as required by Food Bank or any of its supporters; 
  • Monitor sites and be responsive to site coordinators to ensure program guidelines are met; 
  • Develop and support Service Insights and Key Survey transition at all sites; 
  • Exercises safe food handling and warehouse safety practices; 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Associate degree and 1-3 years of work experience in a related field 
  • 2-3 years of customer service experience in a non-profit environment preferred 
  • Familiarity of nutrition and food access is a plus 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license; Mileage reimbursement provided for personal vehicle use
