As a member of Blue's Digital Solutions Team, the Senior Application Developer contributes to the credit union by designing and creating application solutions that bring ease, efficiency, and elevate the experience of our members and staff. Seeking those that are highly motivated and will bring innovative ideas, creativity, and process automation to answer the challenge of complex opportunities. A Senior Application Developer develops proprietary software, creates modern front-end interfaces, utilizes/creates web services/APls/databases, and is also capable of crafting back-end batch maintenance scripts upon need. In collaboration with analysts and business experts, you will design, prototype, code, debug, test, and document credit union solutions. This senior technical role assists leadership in mentoring fellow developers, day-to-day task distribution across the team, and in setting standards within our development practices. Commonly used in this role: HTMLS, CSS, JavaScript (browser, runtime, and frameworks), JSON, XML, Java, SQL, DB2, Git, Postman

This position also focuses on:

  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of application solutions. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to understand objectives, client needs, and desired outcomes. Design and develop solutions that bring ease and simplicity. Also ensuring they are maintainable, efficient, accurate, and meet business needs.

  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyze information needs, functional requirements, and deliver the following artifacts in support of creating shared understanding: Use Cases, Wireframes, Prototypes, Flow Diagrams, and Input/ Output Specifications.

  • Provides technical leadership in the implementation, support, and improvement of our application solutions and our development practices. Performs code reviews to ensure high quality. Ensures compliance with standards and change control procedures. Provides periodic status updates on activities, issues, and project tasks.

  • Analyzes, creates, and presents reports from databases. Creates and maintains data extracts. Monitors related ETL processes tied to data extracts to ensure completion and accuracy. Maintains and enhances reports and data extracts to meet business needs.

  • Regularly reviews technological/ industry advancements, staying knowledgeable of alternatives and innovative options that we should consider. Collaborate with internal technical teams to ensure documentation and system reliability is sufficiently meeting our expanding needs as we develop solutions and grow.

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

* Compensation: $37.37 - $52.76

Position Requirements

EXPERIENCE: Minimum five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience. Previous financial services experience and/or financial core development experience preferred.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: A college degree in related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

OTHER SKILLS: Leads department development processes and initiatives. Assist in technical planning and ensuring project task completion. Ability to discuss technical issues effectively. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work and travel independently and use general office equipment, give speeches and make presentations.

Compensation $37.37 - $52.76  
Bondability Eligibility of employment at Blue Federal Credit Union is contingent upon successful bondability.
