Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant position plays a critical role to Avidyne’s success through its financial connection between our engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service functions. Activities for this role include leading and/or participating in the full range of month-end close functions, expense analysis, audit support, tax support preparation, and corporate account reconciliations. As an entrepreneurial company, the ideal candidate for this position is creative, driven, and desires a fast paced, dynamic environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists or leads the preparation of financial statements as part of the monthly close process.
  • Performs month-end close functions including preparing and/or reviewing of journal entries for month-end close, reconciliations of balance sheet accounts ensuring transactions are reasonable and in compliance with GAAP.
  • Counsels management in the interpretation of financial data, implications, and make recommendations.
  • Prepares contract liability schedules to ensure compliance with current Revenue Recognition Standards.
  • Prepares product analysis reports, rebate calculations, and other variance analyses, as needed.
  • Prepares and reviews semiannual inventory reserve calculations, quarterly standard cost updates, and overhead rate calculations, as needed.
  • Analyzes manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Recommends improvements in policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Provides backup to other responsibilities in Finance & Accounting Department, as well as trains others as their backup.
  • Prepares ad-hoc reports as well as assists in financial audits, as needed.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and accounting standards.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Financials or other ERP accounting/financial software.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze not only data, but practices and internal controls for detecting patterns and inconsistencies, creating recommendations, implementing change, and/or developing objective conclusions.
  • Ability to successfully work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to express information across a wide audience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office with advanced skills in Excel.

 

Education & Experience:

  • B.S degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing, finance experience, including cost accounting.

 

Other Desirable Experience:

  • Active CPA license
  • MBA
