Production Planner and Scheduler

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the procurement, scheduling and monitoring of all raw materials, components, and vendor purchased products through their respective procurement cycle. This position will coordinate with areas throughout the facility, including engineering, corporate purchasing, warehouse and production control. The Buyer will work closely with their management team to ensure all needs are met for production and distribution.


Issue weekly component releases to suppliers and monitor accuracy, quantity, due date and required lead-time.

Monitor the ERP Reports daily and make necessary arrangements to ensure the on-time delivery of material and vendor purchased items. Analyze MRP data to proactively identify issues that may affect Supply Chain Performance Measures.

Work with distribution to achieve optimal product flow and ensure proper delivery of materials in accordance with customer demands and equipment availability.

Develop supplier strategies aimed at improving performance of the suppliers to help achieve business objectives

Perform daily cycle counts of inventories and reconcile issues for inventory accuracy and to ensure minimum inventory levels are maintained to support production.

Review and maintain daily System Generated Inventory receipts to ensure receiving accuracy and timeliness of entry into the Inventory System. Assist in conducting physical inventories as they may occur. Establish Visual Inventory Parameters that will support the 5S (storage, labeling, min/max).

Maintain daily contact with Domestic and International Carriers, monitoring delivery performance to the final destinations. Maintain ERP system production schedules are accurate and up to date.


Education and Experience

Example: Bachelor's degree required; 6-8 years of related experience and/or training required.

Bachelor's degree or 6-8 years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience is required.

Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment using an Enterprise Resource Planning system.

Experience in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma - Green Belt is preferred

Required Licenses

Example: CDL is required.

Valid driver's license and clear DMV record

Computer Skills

Example: Skilled in Microsoft Office, knowledge of database software, order processing systems, manufacturing software, spreadsheets, quality, and word processing.

Enterprise Resource Planning system and inventory management software experience a plus.

Knowledge of database software, internet software, customer-based portals, SharePoint and Microsoft Office products, specifically Advanced Excel - to include Pivot tables and VLOOKUP, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word

Language Skills

Example: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to complaints. Ability to effectively present information to top management. Write, speak and comprehend English.

Position Requirements

Education and/or Experience – Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of general purchase to pay processes and systems. Knowledge of general production planning/scheduling.

Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Microsoft Office products, Excel, Word, Power-Point, customer based Portals (various) and Outlook.

Work Authorization – Must be authorized to work in the United States. Appropriate documentation is obtained and reviewed by Human Resources.

License’s Required – This position requires some travel. Valid Driver’s License and clear driving record required.
