$22.60/hr - $25.60/hr with $1.00/hr shift premium when working nights.

6 p.m. - 6:15 a.m. shift

SUMMARY

A chemical process worker who performs mixing, lifting, transporting, storing, and loading materials and products by use of conveyors, cranes, pumps, hoists, or industrial trucks, and cleaning and maintenance of process and equipment, and conducting chemical and physical laboratory tests on work in process materials, analyzing test data. Assists maintenance and process team in or conducts repairing and maintaining of machinery and equipment per established TPM procedures. All by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and performs setup and adjustments of machines.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety of shop, department, or team.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists team in solving work problems.

Maintains time and production records.

Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials required to meet production goals.

Confers with other team members and manufacturing team to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Performs job rotation with other team members.

Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to team leader and or maintenance personnel.

Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used.

Requests movement of raw materials and finished products, supporting material handling activities.

Verifies or prepares records such as batch records, checklists, and analysis records.

Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests related to process control.

Tests and analyzes work in process to determine, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics.

Documents results of tests and analyses.

Prepares chemical materials for use in processing, following standardized formulas or procedures.

Weighs out quantities of powdered or liquid chemicals, following formula sheets, procedures or standards.

Pours or pumps chemicals into pail or mixing tank.

Pumps chemicals of supply tank or turns valves to transfer materials from supply tank to mixing tanks, reactors, centrifuge, holding tanks, dryers, etc...

Dismantles machines or equipment per TPM procedures, replacing defective parts and motors, and adjusting feed mechanisms.

Cleans and lubricates machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings.

Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.

Paints machines or equipment to prevent corrosion.

Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.

Visually inspects and listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with team leader or maintenance team to diagnose problem or repair machine.

Examines form and texture of work in process to detect imperfections.

Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance.

Reviews master production schedule and work orders.

Confers with production team to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from technical department.

Reports on progress of work and downtime due to failures of machines and equipment to apprise manufacturing team of production delays.

Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of manufacturing team.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Ability to speak fluent English.

Working knowledge of ISO 9001 & 14000.

Working knowledge of OSHA & EPA regulations.

The ability to get along with others.

The ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.

Possess a current driver’s license.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Must be able to travel 5% of time, including domestic and/or international air travel.
