Manager, Health and Safety 

Description

The Manager, Health and Safety will assist HR in managing all elements of health and safety related to COVID-19. You will support the Academy’s commitment to ensuring a safe work environment for all staff and visitors including Academy Members, vendors, and the public by creating, implementing, overseeing, and advising on plans, policies, and procedures in adherence and compliance with the most current protocols.

 

This is a full-time limited term position through June 30, 2022.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Academy with staying up to date on new COVID orders, protocols, etc.
  • Meet with internal departments to discuss COVID prevention elements and serve as an advisor on best practices.
  • Manage relationships with COVID consultants.
  • Create and distribute COVID policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all safety measures are implemented and maintained.
  • Verify vaccination status and follow up on test results, keeping accurate and confidential records.
  • Serve as the incident commander for any suspected cases of COVID-19 either through testing or those symptomatic.
  • Draft communications related to COVID and respond to staff COVID-related inquiries.
  • Conduct health and safety compliance training for staff, including tracking completions as well as updating and distributing materials.
  • Plan and oversee the ordering and distribution of supplies (PPE, disinfectants, etc.).
  • Advise on the cleaning and disinfecting of buildings with Operations.
  • Escalate issues to HR regarding concerns, violations, and compliance as needed.
  • Work with department heads and Operations to implement social distancing protocols for offices and workspaces.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Occupational Safety, or similar preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.
  • Related work experience in an employee/customer-focused role. Experience in work around public health and/or COVID-19 highly desirable.
  • Ability to build and implement clear and effective policy.
  • Strong project management skills including the capacity to handle multiple projects and changing priorities while staying organized.
  • Advanced use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and working knowledge of databases. Airtable a plus.
  • A proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and effectively and clearly communicate with staff and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively as part of a team.
