On an annual basis CAFB distributes about 40 million meals worth of food through a network of hundreds of partners across the DMV. We know that creating long term solutions to food security requires more than meals. It requires education, training, and collaboration across the public, private and social service ecosystems. Description

With guidance from the Director of Information Technology and the IT Operations team, the IT Tech Writer (Intern) – will help build and establish a baseline of the program to provide information and documentation about IT services and systems to users across the organization. 

This is an ideal internship for someone that loves writing and content publishing and wants to learn more technical aspects of IT systems.  

Due to Covid-19 Govenemnt Mandates the candiate must be fully vaccinated. 

 

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create, organize, and manage technical documentation 
  • Define document templates 
  • Define document organization and publishing structure 
  • Use MS Word, SharePoint, Jira/Confluence, and other documentation platforms 
  • Determine organizational needs on technical documentation 
  • Setting priority, document ownership, reviews, and retention policies 
  • Create training materials and presentations to educate staff members

  • Exposure to the use, function, and capabilities of all aspects of enterprise IT systems and services 
  • Project leadership of the creation of IT’s documentation platform

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to take simple or complex instructions from others, and turn it into user friendly materials 
  • Ability to meet deadlines 
  • Track record for success working with diverse teams to reach a common goal 

Technical and Analytical Skills 

  • Ability to learn functions of new software and hardware, then turn that understanding into clear documentation and training for end users 
  • Ability to use technical project management tools (i.e. Jira, MS Planner) 
  • Customer service skills and the ability to communicate with technical and not technical staff 
  • Ability to research technical issues to create documentation and instructions for end users
