Description

Summary/Objective

The Hardware Engineer is responsible for development of hardware for Elevator Control Systems.

Essential functions

  • Design, develop, test and debug elevator system hardware.
  • Participate in the hardware design according to industry standards to pass EMI, ESD, temperature, humidity, and UL/CSA certifications
  • Participate in the design for manufacturability, testability, field supportability, reliability
  • Present designs in internal program meetings.
  • Participate in integration efforts/bug fixes.
  • Participate in estimating efforts for programs.
  • Interface with software design and development.
  • Integrate and validate new product designs.

Competencies

  • Solid electronic fundamentals for analog and digital hardware
  • Possess knowledge in C programming in the embedded microcontroller environment to successfully debug hardware design.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols RS232, RS485, CAN Bus and USB.
  • Adequate knowledge of reading data sheets for component for component selection.
  • Previous experience using EE CAD design tools
  • Ability to create BOM, source parts, qualify second source and meet design BOM cost targets.
  • Experience using scopes, spectrum Analyzer, and logic Analyzer.
  • Proven ability to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Possesses an enthusiastic attitude.
  • Highly motivated and hardworking.
  • Great attention to detail, proactive and conscientious.

Work environment

The work environment includes primarily working indoors in an office space. Occasionally will require travel and work with customers at a customer job site.

Physical demands

Includes prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift and/or move 20 pounds.

Travel required

10% travel required.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 2 years’ experience in the hardware development
