Description

Job Overview

Lead and coordinate all Coating Quality activities in collaboration with the Robinson Operations and Quality teams. Support equipment calibration and preventative maintenance, audits, customer inspections, and outsourced coating inspections.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executes the specific inspections on materials and equipment
  • Issues the relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, write non-conformance reports
  • Create documents and work instructions
  • Lead and verify document control of coating documents
  • Coordinate with operations on non-conforming product and schedule impacts
  • Lead at source inspections
  • Control of storage and certification of consumables
  • Coordinate equipment calibrations
  • Verify coating equipment PM's are being performed
  • Performs qualifications of coating processes and personnel
  • Checks surface preparation
  • Checks and records atmospheric conditions prior to starting of painting operations
  • Carries out wet and dry film thickness checks
  • Monitor's observations of the correct coating cycles
  • Verifies the correct color-coding and painting
  • Performs permeability testing.
  • Performs cross hatch testing.
  • Evaluates efficiencies in processing by performing daily area audits
  • Performs visual checks after blasting.
  • Be a member of the Safety Committee
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as Coating Inspector.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to read, interpret, and implement the client’s policies and procedures
  • Minimum of 5 years in the coating industry
  • Ability to read manufacturing blueprints
  • Competent in applicable OSHA standards

PREFERRED SKILLS

Preferred:

NACE CIP Level 1

Coating experience in the custom manufacturing industry

Materials Management

Powder Coat Processing

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Reports to the Director of Quality

Coating shop environment

Client testing facility (occasionally)

Corporate office (occasionally)

May require driving to all Robinson facilities and outsource vendors

Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces

Lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position

Ability to perform visual inspection of coatings using measuring devices; and/or assembly of fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes

Able to perform in both inside and outside environmental conditions in all four seasons – extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit) and/or extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit) for periods of more than one hour
