As Security Analyst, Responsible for performing security administrative duties including monitoring, evaluating, and maintaining security systems and procedures for the organization. Responsible for ensuring high quality helpdesk support to all users. Responsible for repairing, maintaining, upgrading, and installing data systems and databases to prevent unauthorized access. Monitors network utilization and security systems. Provides technical support to end users, answers questions, and prepares network and security training session s as needed. Performs diagnostic testing to determine source of problems and makes necessary repairs. Maintains activity logs and makes recommendations for new network and security products. Notifies supervisor of significant security problems and follows organizational protocols and procedures for incident response and change management. Works on a team to research, recommend, and implement security products and procedures for voice, Internet, office and business system app locations to provide the highest posture of security utilization for the organization. The Security Analyst will also focus on the following:

 

  • Assumes responsibility for performing organizational information security monitoring and network support. Provides training for end users on installed security and network software. Installs and maintains network and user software. Troubleshoots problems with security hardware and software. Monitors and maintains activity log problems, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for incident response action. Responsible for documenting procedures for products in area of responsibility.
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective and efficient maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment. Performs preventative maintenance on computer equipment. Analyzes problems and provides technical assistance to solve them. Corrects routine operating problems by entering alternative or corrected operating commands. Contacts vendors and arranges for upgrades, updates, patches and replacements on software and hardware security products. Corrects routine networking and security problems by entering alternative or corrected operating commands. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
  • Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of security and network administration duties. Grants rights to users, manages user network, adds and deletes user accounts. Configures software for security and network installations company-wide. Completes hardware and software licensing functions and inventory management of security and network systems. Ensures company compliance with software licensing agreements.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining collaborative communication and coordination with outside vendors, company personnel, and management. This will include reporting security statistics, incident responses, and auditing updates. Responsible for obtaining information and to correct errors in network and security operations. Distributes materials on updated projects. Assists area personnel with security operations. Trains and supports users in the area of security. Keeps users informed of the status of their requests.
  • Responsible for installation, product upgrades and ongoing support for security applications including the CISCO Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Call Manager phone system, voice mail, voice response system, log monitoring, vulnerability scanning, anti-virus, patch management, and web filtering products.
  • Additional responsibilities include checking server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic for credit union violations, evaluating inconsistent adherence to security policies, etc. Analyzes and resolves security breaches and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and conduct user activity audits where required.
 
Position Requirements

Experience: Five years to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.

Education/Certifications/Licenses: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school equivalent to approximately 64 credit hours.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.

Other Skills: A working knowledge of Firewall, Intrusion Detections and other security best practices is imperative.

Compensation $24.26 - $36.39  
Bondability Eligibility of employment at Blue Federal Credit Union is contingent upon successful bondability.
