Turning Point Community Programs is hiring an on call Peer Support Specialist for our Warmline program in Modesto. Description: Responsible for completion of assigned duties and maximizing the provisions of peer support and referrals for all crisis callers. Performs a wide range of duties related to safety and peer support for the call line or center including crisis intervention, suicide prevention and community referrals.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting callers in areas of active listening, demonstrating empathy, carrying the message of hope and recovery, and providing appropriate community referrals whenever possible.
  • Maintains confidentiality of callers and individuals.
  • Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis by notifying emergency services staff and security where indicated.
  • Completes necessary paperwork to maintain record keeping for all necessary tracking of callers, utilization of peer support area, and other program outcome information.
  • Provides effective and accurate information in briefing peers at change of shift.
  • Completes all other paperwork as assigned and meets all deadlines and productivity standards.
  • Provides support to other staff members as needed.
  • Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis both to stop the crisis and to notify when indicated, persons and agencies necessary for the resolution of the crisis.
  • Interacts productively withal team members in order to provide the best quality of care for callers/clients.
  • Adheres to and upholds the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
  • Attends all team and agency staff meetings unless approval for non-attendance is secured by the Team Leader.
  • Meets the productivity standard for billable Medi-Cal/Medicare units monthly.
  • Meets the standards set for performance in all aspects of job duties.
  • Meets the standard for consistent attendance (not more than a 5% absence rate per month) by reporting to every scheduled shift on time and ready to work and by the judicious use of paid sick leave and avoiding any situations resulting in the need to dock pay for time not worked

Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One (1) year of full-time experience, or its part-time equivalent, working in a program serving people with mental disabilities is preferred.
  • Varied lived experience with mental health services is preferred.
