CTH Assistant Director

Position Summary:

REACH CTH Assistant Director provides support to persons aged 18 and over with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental or behavioral health needs who are temporarily accessing crisis or planned therapeutic stays within the REACH Crisis Therapeutic Home. This position participates in the daily routine of the home and provides support for therapeutic intervention, habilitative activities, personal care, health care and other activities. The CTH Assistant Director provides administrative, clinical and supervisory oversight of program operations in collaboration with the CTH Director, including rotating after-hour support to program staff.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborates closely with the Clinical Director on all clinical aspects of CTH daily operations. Follows through with specific tasks and guidance provided by Clinical Director.
  • Oversees the milieu and therapeutic programming of the CTH including the development and implementation of therapeutic groups.
  • Orients new individuals to the home, program policies, rules and activities.
  • Monitors individuals for any mental health or behavioral symptoms and provides crisis prevention, intervention and de-escalation supports in accordance with crisis guidelines and person’s plan.
  • Maintains timely documentation, progress notes, and other data, including incident reports.
  • Communicates with other staff and supervisors on persons’ progress, needs, concerns and changes.
  • Adheres to program standards and policies as well as local, state and federal regulations.
  • Communicates with the REACH clinical team regarding guest responses to interventions and what is learned about behaviors/signs/symptoms, setting events, triggers and effective intervention.
  • Participates in daily Triage updates, weekly CTH Discharge Planning Meetings, and writes CTH discharge summaries.
  • Responsible for maximizing Medicaid billing generated by the CTH through daily direction of the CTH staff concerning the writing of billing notes and managing the daily schedule in the home to ensure that billable therapeutic supports are completed appropriately.
  • Follows all ESUCP procedures as appropriate to position.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Oversees staff training, client milieu and therapeutic programming of the CTH, including the development and implementation of therapeutic programming and therapeutic groups.
  • Participates in on-call rotation with CTH Director to provide remote support to CTH staff and Clinical Team during evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
  • Functions as lead for new-hires and ongoing training and mentoring of all CTH staff. Ensures CTH staff are current on all required certifications/trainings. Assists CTH Director in arranging training sessions as needed for initial and re-certifications of program staff.
  • Ensures CTH staff are clinically competent to implement supports in accordance with goals and objectives established by the Crisis Stabilization Plan for each guest.
  • Participates in development, implementation, and training of CTH staff concerning guests’ individualized support strategies and Crisis Education and Prevention Plans.
  • Maintains the duties of the CTH Director at times when the CTH Director is not available.
  • Assists in reviewing and processing clinical, administrative, and billing documentation. Assures timely completion and accuracy of all clinical documentation by CTH staff.
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an USDOE/CHEA accredited college/university with a bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or Human Services field
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with individuals with IDD and behavioral health needs.
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and/or Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP).
  • Knowledge of MH and I/DD systems of care; specific to Virginia preferred.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize computer word processing and data programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, and Web-based electronic health records.
  • Must possess valid, unrestricted, state-appropriate driver’s license.
  • Use of reliable, personal transportation for work use may be required.
