Description

Adventure Summary

The purpose of the position is to ensure compliance with all government laws and regulations with respect to export and imports. The International Trade Compliance Manager will implement trade compliance regulations into business process, work closely with government agencies to understand and track legislative changes, as well as train appropriate business areas to facilitate strategic operations and procedures for international sales.

 

What You Will Do

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accuracy and timely submission of all Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and any other applicable Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) licensing, etc.
  • Responsible for accuracy of all Electronic Export Information (EEI) through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
  • Works with governmental licensing officers to resolve issues for licensing and documentation, proviso compliance, and clarity
  • Responsible for accuracy of all import and export classifications for US Census Bureau Schedule B numbers, Harmonized Tariff Codes (HTSUS), ITAR categories, BIS Export Commodity Control Numbers (ECCNs), and the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
  • Ensures Denied Party screening compliance through auditing, policy review, and software
  • Serves as subject matter expert of the United States Import Munitions List (USMIL) and reviews and audits all forms 6 for imports
  • Serves as Empowered Official for company as required in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Maintains all records related to international trade consistent with regulatory requirements
  • Conducts regular trade compliance training for all employees
  • Authors and submits Voluntary Self Disclosures (VSD), Commodity Jurisdictions (CJ), General Correspondence (GC), Customs Rulings, etc. working with outside council as applicable
  • Ensures trade compliance staff and international sales team are fully trained on all trade compliance regulations as applicable
  • Updates and maintains Brownells trade compliance policies

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assists Director of Product Management, compliance team members, and internal and external legal resources to investigate and plan possible corporate actions and contingency planning subject to government regulations
  • Assists with European Partner Distribution Program for product offering and availability
  • Monitors shipments made in furtherance of and submits requisite reports for all Warehouse Distribution Agreements (WDA)
  • Schedules and conducts both internal and external audits for international trade compliance
  • Represents Brownells in compliance for issue resolution with government agencies, i.e. U.S. Department of State, U.S. Commerce Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), etc. and brings in other subject matter experts and outside council as necessary
  • Ensures timely and accurate registration with Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC)

What You Will Need

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant Compliance experience required
  • 3+ years of leadership experience or equivalent education required (BS/BA degree and 1 year experience)
  • Certified United States Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) preferred

Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
