Custodian ($1,000 Sign-on Bonus) 

Category Facility Management  


To provide custodial services for assigned centers including classrooms, offices, bathrooms, common areas, etc. Follow health and safety procedures and perform safety inspections and checklists to ensure facility is hazard free.


  • Daily cleaning of classrooms, office, bathrooms, and common areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and emptying trash.
  • Inventory control of all cleaning supplies, including ordering and receiving supplies.
  • Ensure that safety and health procedures are followed as directed by Center Manager and/or established policy.
  • Perform routine inspections and regular up keep of interior areas to ensure areas are free of safety hazards and other foreign materials.
  • Miscellaneous minor maintenance; (i.e. changing filters, unclog toilets, daylight bulbs etc.)
  • Assist with training and event set ups.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required or recommended by supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This position reports to the Director of Facilities & Transportation.
Position Requirements


  • High School diploma or GED required with related work experience preferred


  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and appropriately with others.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to use mechanical equipment, such as carpet cleaner, vacuum, etc.
  • Ability to use various chemicals and cleaning agents.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Daily standing for periods of several hours while executing various tasks.
  • Regular reaching, crouching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling etc. to facilitate various cleaning activities


  • Complete TB screening & physical before having direct contact with children. Renew every 2 years.
  • Complete a minimum of 15 clock hours of professional development per year.


  • Works inside in a child care setting


  • Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)
  • Acceptable hearing (with or without correction)
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift, walk and stand intermittently throughout the work day
