Using data-driven approaches to social justice, we use science to create levers for social, cultural, and policy change.

We are research scientists, race and equity experts, data virtuosos, and community trainers. We use data to build a more fair and just system. We partner with law enforcement and communities. Our aim is to bridge the divide of communication, generational mistrust, and suffering. But most of all, we are the path that science can forge towards public safety, community trust, and racial equity.

Position Description

The Center for Policing Equity (CPE) is looking for a skilled Project Manager for a contract position supporting its Triage Response Team. This position will report to the Program Manager for the Triage Response team (TRT) and will join CPE's Program Management Office (PMO).

The Project Manager will leverage their background in project management, risk assessment, and measurement & evaluation to assist the Triage Response Team with its work providing thought partnership and technical assistance to communities engaged with CPE to redesign public safety. The PM will also support the Program Manager's work to develop and socialize programmatic roadmaps and clear project plans; drive operational efficiency and effective communication strategy; build cohesion and collaboration across a diverse, geographically distributed team.

This role is expected to work 40 hours per week for a term of 6 months, with possible renewal/extension depending on need and performance.

About the Program Management Office

CPE recognizes project management as a core function of the organization; in 2019, we established a Program Management Office (PMO) to evolve, promote, and enforce CPE's standards for project management. The PMO itself is a centralized team of project management professionals throughout the organization to provide PM support to their assigned division -- so the Triage Response Team Project Manager is situated within the PMO and supported by a team of professionals of the same discipline, but most of their active time is spent in direct collaboration with the members of the Triage Response program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support TRT members in clarifying project goals and planning, monitoring, and delivering projects

  • Ensure adequate communication and hand-off of tasks between the TRT and its collaborators, including external partners and internal stakeholders

    • Assessing and managing risks to project success

    • Promoting consistent adoption of operating standards

    • Supporting team members in performing retrospectives to assess and improve processes

    • Supporting team members in adopting measurement and evaluation (M&E) practices and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Provide project management and operational support to the Program Manager for the Triage Response Team

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of project management experience

  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of project management methodologies and tools

  • Ability to quickly adapt and apply new project management tools and processes to a growing organization

  • Demonstrated organizational and critical-thinking skills needed to work effectively on multiple projects with competing priorities
