Accounts Receivable Representative

Job summary

  • Coordinates client and insurance billings by performing the following duties:
  • Assists supervisor with the daily operation of the department
  • Processes insurance payments to client accounts in computerized system
  • Submits appeal and bypass letters as needed
  • Contacts clients regarding outstanding balances
  • Verifies benefit entries to ensure accuracy
  • Responds to client billing and statement inquiries
  • Makes recommendations to management for write-offs
  • Performs clerical functions; Xeroxing, filing

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Three (3) years minimum revenue cycle experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • General knowledge of all payment and adjustment codes including denials and disputes.
  • Knowledge of all Patient Accounting systems including Emdeon, and MyEvolv is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Managed Care contracts, as well as ICD9 & ICD10 to ensure accurate reimbursement
  • Must have strong follow up skills in order to identify, track and resolve payment discrepancies through claims adjustments
  • Must also have knowledge of CMS regulations and guidelines.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, PC proficiency, must be skilled in Microsoft applications, especially Word and Excel
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and handle heavy work volumes as well as work independently
  • Must have strong analytical skills and general knowledge in all areas of the Revenue Cycle
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Billing software experience
