Job Summary

Responsible to design security systems and related systems equipment. This position follows electrical designs, layouts and building plans to ensure safe and accurate electrical components, equipment and systems are installed according to specifications and in compliance with appropriate codes and regulations.

Essential Functions

  1. Design physical security systems to meet customer needs according to best industry practice and company guidelines while complying with all applicable building codes and laws.
  2. Determine material quantities in the amounts needed to complete projects.
  3. Develop and create systems documentation, including pre-sale systems drawings, systems installation drawings, and other systems documentation.
  4. Plan, coordinate, and perform programming for access control, video management, integrated intercom, and other integrated components to meet customer and system operational needs.
  5. Ensure that physical security systems are being installed, programmed, tested, and commissioned according to current industry and company standards.
  6. Thoroughly test and commission access control and video management system components to ensure optimal system performance.
  7. Create systems' testing and commissioning reports.
  8. Develop and perform effective owner training sessions.
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve access control, video management, integrated intercom, and other integrated systems issues.
  10. Ability to travel to job sites and work out of town for short durations.
  11. Provide technical support and remote assistance to customers as required.
  12. Actively participate in personal, professional, and business development.
  13. Creates and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, project managers, office and field staff and others that reflect and support the Company's core values and meet or exceed the customer's expectations.
  14. Accurately and confidentially maintains Company records and other sensitive business and customer data.
  15. Provides mentoring, coaching and training to co-workers as needed.
  16. Implements LEAN concepts and methodologies for continuous improvement of systems processes and activities. Educates others on LEAN approaches.
  17. Maintains compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  18. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies relevant to the industry.
  19. Supports the mission, vision and values of the Company and works creatively to best support the Company's long-term goals. Champions and models the Company culture at all times.
  20. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office or warehouse environment, and in the field setting on construction job sites. The noise level of the work environment on job sites can be loud. The employee can be exposed to extreme conditions including cold and heat. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers, tablets and smartphones.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and walking is required. Must be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities of close, distance, color, peripheral vision and depth perception and ability to adjust focus are required.

Expected Hours of Work

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Will be subject to occasional on-call periods lasting up to one week.

Travel

Frequent travel to work sites is required.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  1. Minimum of two (2) consecutive years’ experience with the design and implementation of installed physical security systems strongly preferred or four (4) conservative years working as a user of a physical security platform.
  2. Basic understanding of computing, physical security systems’ software, storage, data networking, SQL databases, and physical security systems components strongly preferred.
  3. Manufacturer platform certification(s) or programming and design experience for Avigilon Control Center, Lenel OnGuard, Genetec Security Center, Milestone Xprotect Corporate or Enterprise, or S2 Security.
  4. Manufacturer certification(s) for 2N, AiPhone, Axis Communications, Hanwha Security, Panasonic Security, Suprema Bioconnect, or Zenitel Stentofon.
  5. Provides technical assistance and guidance to other team members conforming to industry and company best practices and standards.
  6. Maintain certifications through renewal and continuing education requirements.
  7. Experience and high level of aptitude with systems and technologies. Solid understanding of computing, access control systems and physical security systems components and Software.
  8. Knowledge and proficiency with electronics and electronic systems, systems design techniques, technical support and systems documentation, standards, procedures and regulations.
  9. Knowledge and experience with construction and general industry safety standards and procedures.
  10. Demonstrated enthusiasm for expanding knowledge and skills to meet the needs of a dynamic technology office while directly contributing to the success of others.
  11. Experience with LEAN methodologies and applications. Strong process orientation.
  12. Ability to independently and effectively perform job duties and manage workflow, with minimal oversight, in a fast-paced environment with multiple and sometimes changing priorities.
  13. Demonstrated strong collaboration, teamwork, customer focus and decision-making skills.
  14. Strong critical thinking skills and detail orientation.
  15. Effective independent problem solving, time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
  16. Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills. Strong telephone communication skills and documentation skills.
  17. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office software applications.
  18. Holds a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Associate Degree preferred
