Children's Center Assistant Teacher, part-time

George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA has an opening for a part-time Children’s Center Assistant Teacher in the infant room to begin in late August.  

Our program serves children ages 6 weeks through 5 years and is a Keystone STARS 3 Center.  This is a year-round position covering the school year and then our summer program.  This position, which covers the morning hours in the infant room,  begins in late-August with work hours approximately 28 a week.


The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education at the Children’s Center. The Assistant Teacher must be able to communicate, actively listen, and work well with others in a team environment. The Assistant Teacher supports and develops positive relationships with children and families and is also responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on the children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Lead Teacher and Director. Discretion, respect and ability to maintain confidentiality a must. Childcare experience preferred.



Position Requirements
  • High School diploma and Child Development Associate or college credits or professional experience with children required.
  • Ability to lift and carry children for short periods and to effectively communicate and actively participate in all experiences of the particular age group, i.e., sit, crawl, stoop, run, climb, jump, dance, etc.
  • Ability to physically and mentally react appropriately and immediately to the diverse and unexpected situations that arise in early childhood education.
  • Commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community and a working style consistent with Quaker values.
  • Discretion, respect and ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
