This position is responsible for developing, implementing, analyzing and optimizing key areas of the zoo’s marketing plan including sponsor sales and paid social media. This role also supports the Marketing and Advertising Director with advertising, marketing promotions plans, projects, events and activities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage overall sponsorship budgets, goals, and deliverables which including but not limited to: working across zoo teams to identify and develop sponsorship opportunities; creating sponsor target lists; producing copy and layout for sponsorship proposals and recaps; serving as lead for sponsor sales, presentations, and proposals; supporting director’s focused sponsor portfolio; managing sponsorship contracts and invoicing; representing marketing on the cross-departmental Corporate Engagement team to align internal strategies across divisions.
  • Manage all paid social media efforts across all zoo departments. Research and implement innovative social media applications (e.g. audience targeting, look-a-like audiences, etc.), create overall goals along with the plans to accomplish said goals.
  • Manage all of zoo’s SEM and SEO efforts impacting marketing, membership, learning and innovation, development, events, and group sales with marketing’s digital agencies.
  • Work with Web Manager and ecommerce systems operator to optimize zoo websites for frictionless conversions and lead acquisitions tied to marketing campaign goals.
  • Act as a secondary media buyer and manage various advertising plans for group sales, learning and innovation, and development.
  • Participate in event planning, including assistance in facilitating needs generated by sponsors and promotional partners.
  • Assist in producing information regarding events and promotions to ensure consistent messaging for press releases, website, member magazine, gate fliers, social media, or other marketing promotions collateral.
  • Support Marketing department for marketing events and promotions in regards to sponsorship stewardship from planning to onsite execution.
  • Staff outside community outreach events and on-grounds marketing events, as needed.
  • Assist in audience research and analysis of zoo audiences for marketing and advertising purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field; six (6) or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with people inside and outside of the organization, including cold-calling potential clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks by organizing and prioritizing work assignments.
  • Proficient knowledge and experienced with Microsoft Office applications (including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook), customized databases and technology, and Internet research. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required for revenue/cost analysis purposes.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively while working independently.
  • Ability to evaluate problems and effectively solve them in a timely manner. Respond to concerns with empathy and inclusivity. Respond appropriately to conflict.
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities, work with others, and coach employees to develop their full potential. Provide helpful, behaviorally specific feedback to others.
  • Ability to listen, give and receive feedback in a productive and professional manner. Able to translate vision into planning and organizational implementation.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which includes weekends, evenings, and/or holidays as needed

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This position may be required to lift up to 35lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment and/or outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Pay: $65,000-75,000 per year, plus benefits.
