Description

SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to prepare monthly financial reports and to analyze financial information, develop reports, assist with the budgeting & forecasting process. Responsible for complete, timely and accurate financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to ledger accounts, account reconciliations and analysis, work in process schedules, documenting business processes, researching transactions and job expenses.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.
  • Administration of job costing system, which includes, but is not limited to reconciling projects, generating work in process reporting for operations and financials, analysis of contracts, and closing jobs at completion.
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit as well as internal audits and any other external audits by insurance or governmental agencies
  • Drafts, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting standard operating procedures and internal control procedures
  • Correspond with other department managers and to resolve questions or issues as they arise
  • Perform Ad hoc report analysis
  • Contribute to and/or lead special projects, as required

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, from four-year college or university; and at least 5 years of related experience in a similar role. Prior electrical or contractor experience is preferred, but not required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must possess excellent communications skills, including preparation and presentation of financial data. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and standards, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate subtractions, additions, multiply and divide. Familiarity with financial formulas, ratios, and calculations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be a proactive problem solver, with the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong general ledger accounting and analytical skills. High proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products and ERP systems, with experience with eCMS a plus.
