Description

Port Engineer

Coeymans Marine Towing (CMT) is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated leader for the position of Port Engineer. CMT owns and operates tug and push boats along the Hudson River, New York Harbor, Long Island Sound (CT) and the NJ shoreline. This position is based out of the P&M Marine Terminal located in Coeymans, NY, approximately 20 minutes south of Albany, NY.

The Port Engineer is responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring that all equipment and company marine assets are maintained and repaired
  • Engages in hands-on repairs of auxillary machinery, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Possesses the required practical knowledge, experience and skills to lead, train and coach mechanics, welders and marine equipment maintenance employees.
  • Ensures the safe operation of all marine vessels within the legal requirements of the USCG and other pertinent regulatory agencies.
  • Schedules work, manpower, equipment and resources to maximize efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Assists in the development of standard operating procedures
  • Responsible for all reports and documentation as required.
  • Ensures that equipment and company assets are in good working order and follows all policies and procedures for preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Maintains and manages parts inventory and keeps record of all warranties, equipment repair and maintenance documents and advises the CMT Ops Manager as to the effectiveness of current equipment and assets.
  • Ensures that all marine equipment is maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements and maintains well organized records.
     
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Marine Engineering Degree preferred
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred, or equivalent experience
  • USCG license preferred
  • 3 years of experience as Port Engineer or equivalent marine preventative maintenance and repair management experience
  • Solid knowledge of all USCG regulations and safety requirements
  • Submit to and pass alcohol and drug testing as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to pre-employment, random and post-accident testing.
  • Hands on preventative maintenance and repair experience is required

USCG Qualifications:

  • Chief Engineer (Limited) or Chief Engineer (Unlimited)
  • **Designated Duty Engineer (DDE)– USCG Qualification= Designated duty Engineer
  • **QMED= Qualified Member of Engineering Department
  • May require STCW 95
